Remember the terrible zoom-in cam experiment the UFC tried?

They were doing this stupid gimmick where at the beginning of the fight the camera view would be from the rafters looking down on the octagon and then would slowly zoom in on the action. They did this for a few cards but then it caused us to miss JDS rocking Cain in the beginning of their third fight. You can see it at 1:11 of this flashback video

Really idiotic in retrospect. Imagine they had done that for Masvidal/Askren. We would have missed the entire fight.

THEY DID THIS LAST NIGHT in Professional Fighters League!! Or Bellator, can't remember which

And they do this stupid shit ALL THE TIME on UK boxing, it's so fucking dumb. And they start WAYYYYYY back, since the arenas for boxing are so huge, the fighters are barely visible when the slow zoom starts.

I'm sure the UFC got the idea from British boxing broadcasts...not sure why they think this is cool, it's fucking stupid. The UFC at least realized how damn stupid it was and quit quickly. The UK and apparently PFL (I think) are still doing this crap.

I thought you meant this kind of zoom in

cue regurgitation of "JDS was never the same after those Cain wars".
Stipe's so underrated and unpopular people probably don't even know about his war with JDS after JDS finished the trilogy where JDS looked as good as ever.

Cain vastly hastened Junior's decline but saying JDS wasn't the same immediately after the third fight with Cain just shows how little you know of JDS and his fights.

What a fight. Prime JDS and Cain were both incredible. Cain took some amazing shots but just kept coming. This Cain was unstoppable imo. He ruined JDS career.

Junior really wasn’t the same. He was still good but not the same. Still managed to stay at the top and fight for another belt though.

Can we just bring back the fucking ref cam? What logical reason, in 2021,is there to not have it? Less controversy, a better understanding of what the REF is seeings, good fucking angles. Look at (justify stand up, stoppage etc).

FFS my go pro would suffice, and I'll fucking donate it to them.

Anyone not watching shit like Murilo vs Bonello is a moron.

PFL has a ref cam. And it's terrible.

Ya i remember when Matt was fighting and he ran right to the center of the ring and did it and the camera totally missed it we didn't know what happened until they showed the replay.

They should speed up the zoom and start it before the bell rings so when the fight starts it's already zoomed in. Bad timing from production stand point. If they don't want to miss any of the action from bad timing or human error do it for the face-off right before the fight instead. Can't expect all fights to start slow, some go for it right when the bell rings. They would've missed the Masividal KO on Ben with that slow zoom and bad timing.

Get a ref cam, gets a new angle on fights. Worked in Pride and is working with PFL. They can also add more over head cameras to get the harder angles when they're pressed up against the cage. Have it remote controlled so they can cover it from an angle other than just being directly on top of the action. Sometimes it's better from a side angle so you can see the action, directly over the top you tend to miss out on what the bottom fighter is doing and the ground n pound from the fighter on top.

Pride ref cam was dope. That and turning commentaty off should be options on all fight pass content

Cain got outcardioed and beaten to a pulp by a shopworn Werdum just a few months after.

Cain has this aura as this invincible fighter in his prime, often perpetuated by DC too, because he beat some slow plodding guys with no standup like Bigfoot, Bork and Rothwell pretty badly. Truth is he always had subpar defense and was very hittable and it showed in a lot of fights, mainly the Werdum fight but also Kongo, JDS, and Ngannou.

Are you a Cain hater. I think so. The fight was at altitude and cain did well in the first round then basically gassed due to the altitude. Its the obvious reason. And his loss to jds was a flash ko to the side of the head. Oh and watch the fight vs noguiera who is no slow plodding guy. Admit you're a hater.
Edit: Cain likely beat the crap of you fav fighter too. Hence the hate.

Ya, no HW until this day had prime Cain cardio.

He's a tall, decent looking firefighter, heavyweight champion, who gets KO's 75% of the time, American, from a city named INDEPENDENCE. How he didn't get marketed as a superstar I'll never understand. His wins are super impressive and his losses are nothing to be ashamed of.

Dana must really dislike him. Maybe because he's from Ohio and not FLA/NY/CA or something, idk. I feel like he could have achieved a Liddell level fame if he had a different personality type.
