Remember, Nick Diaz is really a Jiujitsu fighter

What people seem to forget, when discussing GSP vs Nick Diaz, that originally Nick started off as a jiu-jitsu fighter. When he entered MMA that's what he was known as, that's how he was introduced to the ring, "a gracie jiu-jitsu" fighter. When he fought guys like Robbie Lawler, everyone said his game plan would be to get him to the ground and be active from there, but that's not what happened. People need to remember that the whole reason he started striking and finishing guys on his feet, is because people were scared to get on the ground with him. So, its rather strange when people keep discussing, that Nicks jiu-jitsu is over rated or his jiu jitsu isn't that good. Thats not the case, the only reason most people try to bang with him, is because they dont want to be on the ground and since his fights are mostly standing, his stand-up and striking is always discussed. I think GSP is going to be weary of his ground game, like he was with Jake, when he decided to keep the fight standing.
Also if you rewatch the lawler fight, the daley fight and the second noons fight, all the commentators say is Nick should get them in his guard. And, all those fighters have great stand-up.

gsp is not afraid to be ontop

No ones bottom game at 170 is suited to deal with GSP.

It's funny that you use three images from fights that Diaz lost.

His jits in MMA has been completely underwhelming compared to the way people build it up. Results are results, and Nick's BJJ is nothing special in MMA.

Those were close fights.

If you want to look at the statistics (fight metric etc), Diaz should have won both fights.

But whatever those fights were 6 years back.

There is a reason why! Watch the Gracie breakdown GSP was baiting him

GSP actually said in the post-fight press conference that he knows how Condit likes to bait guys into submission attempts so they can go for it and then Condit will escape and get on top. So GSP said that's why he stuck to GnP instead of submissions because he knows that Condit likes to bait with that to escape and improve his own position. Condit has done this a lot, swept guys because of it and won fights that way.

Everyone seems to forget that GSP also has a BB in BJJ one of them being a Gracie BB as well.
He's not going to get caught in anything Nick tries. Plus GSP has a significant advantage in the wrestling department and top game.
I GSP using a double TD and landing in side control and causing massive damage.

Yeah, 'cause GSP always does double legs and lands in side control against high level BJJ guys and causing a lot of damage, maybe in a fairy tale be can do that but not real life against Nick or Condit for that matter. Nick hasn't actually had his guard passed for very long, I highly doubt seeing GSP get a double leg TD, landing in side control and keeping Nick there for more than a minute.

Difference being that Jake doesn't have a stand up game...so...what does that mean?
what does GSP do then?

If I was GSP facing Nick Diaz I would take him down but just be careful as shit not to be caught in a triangle or armbar. If it is a 25 min boxing/kickboxing/muay thai match GSP loses 9 times out of 10.

Even if he does get him to the ground there's a strong chance of a submission. I think Joe Rogan pointed out the possibilities of a few armbar attempts Carlos could have had on GSP but Carlos does not have the BJJ of Nick's, obviously.

Nick Diaz IS awesome because he beats guys at their own game. He didn't even attempt a takedown against Robbie Lawler. He got dropped by Paul Daley twice and STILL stood with him and his still the only person to (T)KO Paul Daley. The guy is ridiculous when you really think of the accomplishments he's done in mma. In my opinion he, alonged with few guys like Hendo are the best ever in mma to never win a UFC belt. (Besides UFC 17 championship.) And I do think he would beat GSP with either a TKO or submission from his guard if they do indeed fight. That's pretty much the only reason why I like Diaz-GSP over Hendricks-GSP. If Hendricks can't land the left there's almost no doubt he would lose that fight, probably by decision. Nick, on the other hand, could pull an Anderson Silva and sub GSP in the 5th for all we know.

Go watch GSP vs Fitch or GSP vs Penn. Both guys famous for having great guards. Fitch had never had his guard passed in a UFC fight prior. GSP whipped right through them.
GSP faces better wrestlers than Diaz which is why Diaz with his terrible TDD will be doubled with legs up and to the side ending up with GSP in side control.
I see this fight ending via cut from a crucifix position or from half guard.
GSP will be quite content to sit in half guard and drop elbows on Diaz who is prone to cutting.

Diaz's TDD isn't that bad. He stuffed 17 of 19 TD's from Sherk, 6 of 11 from Diego, 5 of 8 from Riggs. Diaz is rarely in bad positions at all, have you even watched either of these fights that I've listed?

I'm sorry, but Nick is a more effective grappler off his back than Fitch and BJ are. Fitch and BJ are great on top, but they're not nearly as dangerous off their back the way Diaz is.
