Remember me....Matt Lindland

Everyone always said how the UFC cut him so rich Franklin could be champ.

idk tho, i think Rich would have Ko'd Matt..Rich did good against wrestlers like Okami, Hamill..I think he'd be able to sprawl and brawl lindland tbh

I would say Lindland was significantly better than those two and ironically just as the UFC cut him was turning into a more entertaining fighter becoming a lot more aggressive on the ground.

Did anyone besides Rampage claim that? If not, it sounds like one of Rampage's tall tales and excuses for a mediocre performance.

Lindland could have easily got the nod in that fight too, wouldn't have been a shocker

Yeah, and that fight is about the only thing that makes Chael vs. Rampage intereresting (Chael being Lindland's old training partner and fellow MW wrestler). Of course, many years have past, both have declined a lot and Rampage will probably be a fat 250-pounder now, so who knows.

Wouldn't call him a great fighter, sure he beat Cro cop & Nogueira but they didn't fair tell well outside of PRIDE whether they were in their prime or not.

meh I've seen worse & I bet you have too

Nogeira whooped couture and also became the HW champion...and this was long after his prime...how is that not fairing well in the ufc? And by the time cro cop got to the ufc, how many knee surgeries did he have? haha And fedor went undefeated for 10 years....in his prime cro cop would destroy Stipe.

I have see Lindland fight live, both times I saw him he got beat lol. I must be bad luck for him. those are my tickets from those events. I didn't care for him much at the time, but he is a pioneer and legend for sure.

Just on a side note.. look how much the tickets used to cost back then when guys like Lindland were fighting, compared to the disgusting and outrageous prices of UFC events these days

Well Lindland did fight at UFC 49 and 52 events, splitting fights going 1-1. And I think you’re an idiot.

Cool he beat Old Man Couture & Tim Sylvia, Most of Coutures losses were against Boxers & Sylvia wasn't really that good in the first place. Yeah Fedor went undefeated against mostly pro wrestlers & a few good talents but was shit after leaving pride. Cool the guy beat Jeff Monson who gives a shit

Fedor beat cro cop, nogeira 2x...didn't just beat him, but whooped him badly (the guy that destroyed couture both the ufc's LH and HW champion).... fedor destroyed coleman, randleman, silvia, arlovski....stop being a hater and a troll...it's very obvious.

Not hating or trolling, just giving my opinion.

He had some great fights, I mostly remember his early UFC run. Solid fighter.

Lindland's also known for the "quick tap" like he did against Bustamante--doing a really quick tap to get the ref to break up a submission and then pretending that it didin't happen so the fight could continue.

His protege, Chael Sonnen, tried the same against Anderson Silva, but thankfully the ref didn't buy it in this fight and Silva held it until a true tap came about.

In terms of his hygiene, Rampage called him a "smelly skunk" in the post-fight interview and Randy Couture talks quite extensively about how bad Lindland smells in the Matt Lindland documentary, "Fighting Politics". For the record, I thought he deserved the nod against Rampage in that one, but it was a close fight. Lindland developed a MEAN guillotine in the latter days of his MMA career, it's a shame he didn't age as well as other members of Team Quest!

He was also surprisingly funny and well-spoken in his interviews too. Very unexpected material when it's coming out of an ugly mug like that!

Always fun to see Team Quest roiders lose.

Got destroyed by Fedor

Rope grab is a myth

You see the ref slapping Fedor's arm off the rope? You think he did that for giggles?

He used the rope to torque and reverse the takedown
