Remember me....Matt Lindland

IIRC, Rampage Jackson's entrance music for his match against Matt Lindland was Judas Priest's "Breaking the Law" -- which I thought was a hysterical response to Lindland's "I Fought the Law".

I can't find the interview but Rampage said Matt smells horrible. the look on Matt's face was priceless

warrior spirit. Not athletically talented...very slow. achieved more than his physical attributes would allow
yes I know his wrestling pedigree but my statement applies to that too

Born in Oregon City, Oregon Matt (The Law) Lindland would be one pf many wrestlers that would find very early success right away in the raw landscape of MMA. A successful High School wrestler that carried on to college, he even competed at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games (Freestyle Wrestling) winning Silver, while also competing and winning Silver at the 2001 World Champions at Patras, Greece. It was in 2000 where he would enter the UFC however, facing off Yoki Anjo at UFC 29, winning by TKO. It wasnt his first time fighting in MMA, that came in 1997 where he would compete in World Fighting Federation and IFC compiling a 3-0 record. After his win over Anjo, Lindland would face Gracie protege Ricardo Almedia winning by DQ after repeated fouls at UFC 29. The Law was making himself known in the UC after wins over Pat Militech and Phil Baroni, he would face off with UFC Middleweight Champion Murilo Bustamante, he would suffer his first loss by Submission choke at UFC 39.

Matt would go on to face many tough opponents thruought his career even fighting at Heavyweight and facing Fedor Emilanenko in 2007 where he would lose by armbar. He would finish his career at 22-9, and was consistently ranked in the top 10 at middleweight-Light Heavyweight for ten years with notable wins over Phil Baroni 2X, Mike Van Arsdale, Fabio Leopold, Travis Lutter, Jeremy Horn, Carlos Newton. He would retire from MMA in 2011 and is seen sometime coaching at Team Quest in Oregon.

Matt Lindland vs Karo Davyton (World Fighting Federation)

Matt Lindland vs Carlos Newton (IFL: Houston)

When I think of Matt Lindland, 3 things come to mind.

1.SUPER CHINNY
2.OVER RATED
3.BODY ODOR

Ya I remember for a long time he was ranked 1 or 2 by MMAWeekly, back when that sites ranking used to be legit.

He will forever be remembered for his BO.

"I don't know how he has kids." - Rampage

Very good wrestler---- mediocre at best everywhere else. NO chin.
He thought he was God which was hilarious........and several fighters complained of his personal hygiene.
ThERE YOU GO

I remember him

War Vitor!!

One of the famous quotes of all time :
Quinton, after fighting Lindland:

" That guy smells like hot garbage "

A literall tear jerker (you know- the way rampage says it)

beating a way out his prime fedor, isn't much of revenge...lets see how good hendo would have done against pride fedor...not very well.
Faarrkkk off, Hendo was 40 & Fedor was 34 so don't give me this out of prime bullshit when prior to the Hendo fight Fedor was 8-2 in his last ten fights. Go frick yourself kid

U bumped this thread for this lmao.

I remember when guys on here were saying he should fight Anderson

Sadly didn't get to fight much top competition during his best spell where he became a far better sub grappler than his early LnP days.

He was old by the time of the Vitor KO and after that clearly past his best, don't think he was ever on the Hendo/Randy vitamins.

Hendo is a guy that could never win a ufc title...cause while he was great in a small pond..the moment he came to the ocean...he drowned..he had 2 chances at world titles and lost both times.

That would be like calling conor a legend, if he didn't win any world titles in the ufc...and simply using his cage warrior titles as evidence...that wouldn't cut it...and neither did his pride belts..

... Ok bud.

Kid...haha using age as a means to determine who's in their prime. and you call me kid..haha go back and watch fedor in pride and honestly tell me that's the same fighter? and anyone watching that fight knows hendo go lucky as hell....As I have said many many times...it's not so much that fedor's skills were that badly deteriorated. but he abandoned what made him a great fighter...

I wouldn't say "destroyed," especially given the difference in weight classes. But Lindland's training partner and fellow MW Dan Henderson finished Fedor in the first round a few years later. Sweet revenge!!

And then vitor destroyed henderson. Ah, the beautiful cycle of mma lol.
