Venezuela genuinely looks like my ideal travel destination and has been top of my list for years but the few people I know who have been said it's not worth the risk of trying to do it independently and to book and organised tour for security reasons. They are people who have only ever done organised tours in that one country, it's not their thing, so that shows how dangerous the country is.

One day. Those tours are not cheap.
