He was training down in iceland and wanted to focus on his training instead of promoting the fight. It supposedly wasn't just one press conference, there was also a commercial they were gonna film. He probably started negotiating when they asked him to come down for the presser and asked for at least 10m dollars because like he said in an interview he's never satisfied, and anything less than 10m is actually a step down from his last fight, especially if they wanted him to come down and do all that media. He probably also didn't want to attend the press conference because of the recent death of Joao Carvalho in ireland, where he was watching cage side and his teammate was fighting. We all know how much the ireland news oppose mma, and conor is the face of mma down there. That may have been why he wanted to get away from the country and train at iceland?

Who do hell goes to Iceland to train? You go to Iceland to run, my thought is Conor is looking to get that money and run I really don't know how you asking 10mil coming off a loss in which you tapped out. Doing media knowing you gonna get poked and spoon feed a few of your own juicy quotes.

Pressure is a b!tch, but I do hope he gets himself together he does have talent just needz more depth in fighting & person.

Guaranteed UFC 200 was going to do relatively big numbers anyway, so they pull Conor and put him on the NY Card later this year.

That's one theory… No matter which way you cut it though, the UFC and Conor are cooking up something here and selling some major wolf tickets to the fans…

The money you earn as a fighter is due to the sales you generate. The result of his last fight is, strictly speaking, meaningless unless it impacts his ability to draw viewers and PPV buys.

I believe 100% this is about money! We have all heard Connor has worked the UFC over for more money, more than once and I believe he tried again for a bigger PPV % and they finally said no, said he says he cant make all media obligations and it all falls apart. Why would training 4 months out stop him from going to media obligations, when doing the media helps generate more ppvs and more ppvs equals more cash for him.

it is about more money period, he knows his star is running out if he can't win so he is looking to cash plain and simple!

From my understanding here is what had happened. Dana called and asked Conor to attend press conference McGregor said nope, not gonna happen. Dana said, then your are out of ufc 200 and McGregor as an act of revenge announced his retirement as so he is bigger then UFC. LOL. UFC was and will be good without Nuggets. Not sure about Conor and his 100 mil plans though.

If he asked for $10 million, that is complete bullshit coming off a loss. If he did make more than $10 million in his last fight, it was because of PPV's, and he likely would have made the same off the second fight. Media is part of it all, if you want to make the big bucks, you have to help promote the fight.

You get away to iceland with that kind of excuse.

Seems like Connor knew that he wouldn't make the drugs test, got away with UFC avail, and later, when he is clean he will come back and make more money.

If that turns out to be the case the UFC will never get another penny of my money.

That's s good perspective. Let's see.

I mean… The whole thing stinks of a setup. A 27 year old dude 'retiring'. Would anyone be surprised to see Conor headlining a huge fight before the end of the year?

i dont see why people making a big stink about training in iceland. Thats where his teammate Gunnar lives, and it was probably good to get away from everyone so he could focus...till all this shit happened.

He would have made over 10'with points. He wanted 10 mil flat and then points. Allegedly. Of course the UFC cant allow fighters to renegotiate after the fight contracts are signed. Can't let fighters hold them up.
