Really? St-pierre has not finished a guy since 2009?

I will definitely say that IMHO the fighters GSP has fought were tougher opponents than the fighters Anderson Silva has defended against. Not saying if Fitch fought Vitor he'd win, so if you understand where I'm coming from keep following.

GSP technically hasn't FINISHED anyone since regaining the strap from Matt Serra, no one was finished in the Penn rematch. The reality is GSP isn't fighting guys that get finished to begin with. How many guys have finished Fitch, Kos, Thiago Alves, Dan Hardy, Jake Shields, BJ Penn, Condit? Not very many if any at all.

I've honestly only found a few GSP fights BORING, but in retrospect I look at Anderson Silva's fights with Thales Leites, Maia, and Cote as some really really boring fucking fights. None of GSP's fights other than MAYYYYYBE the Shields fight would fall into those categories. These "fans" chirping the same shit others say "It's a jab-takedown fest" don't realize that the way GSP does that style is beyond the likes of Fitch, Chael Sonnen, Ben Askren, these fuckers who 90% of the time have boring as fuck fights. GSP is just so impressive, doesn't matter if he finishes a guy, he's never been a KO artist, especially when the talent doesn't get knocked out to begin with.

Instead of finishing fights, GSP completely dominates his opponents and it's extremely impressive to watch. I do wish that he finished more fights as I hate knowing that a fight will go to a decision (like most BW/FLW fights), but he's still top 3 P4P.
 
almost all of Lebens wins are finishes does that make him a P4P great?

because this, "sport" is about inflicting damage.

that's why it's called the ultimate fighting championship, and not the ultimate avoid getting hit while doing none yourself championship.

finishing is the ultimate goal in a fight.

I don't think that is the case. I'm sure GSP does want to finish but he isn't going to break from dicipline (lower his chances of victory significantly) to do it.

Even from strickly a money perspective, getting more finishes would be good for his 'brand' so there is incentive to do it. Also, GSP has consistently said he would prefer to finish.

He's come close, but it's a logic fail to assume since something hasn't happened, it was never intended or desired.

I don't think that concept is grasped by a lot of people

Seems a lot of people would make for bad generals. Considering destruction above all else, even it meant sacrificing the lives of most of their army in the process.
 
Wait so Alves was a can? I take it you think Matt Hughes was a can too? Oh and BJ Penn since that guy hasn't won a fight in how long?

but can you ever, "put yourself beyond the possibility of defeat"? especially in an mma fight?

that sounds unreasonable to me. at a certain point, you have to take risks in order to finish. it's a risk, yes...but it's the risk that's needed to finish.

it is no coincidence that gsp stopped finishing fighters the moment he lost to serra and decided that he was never going to lose again. even if it means fighting extremely conservative with no finishes in sight.
