Reactions to early weigh ins getting shut down

4 hours before the first prelim fight start is perfect for weigh-ins, perhaps some fighters will finally move up.

How about you fighters fight at your normal weight and then none of this will be an issue at all.

If you're a 185 pound man naturally, and you're losing 30 pounds just to fight smaller people, I don't feel any sympathy for you at all. Sorry Eddie.

I really don't understand why they even allow weight cutting!
It serves no purpose (since everyone does).

Abolish this crap, set WC's up to accommodate the majority and force those extreme cutters to move up and fight people their proper WC.

EVERYONE WILL WIN!!!!

Better fights!!!
Fighters will not have to starve themselves then fight!
There will be no fights canceled because someone got sick or couldn't make weight.

THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO NEGATIVES ABOUT THAT!!!

angela hill has a nice suggestion. I would also don't mind weigh-ins on thursday night, that way we get the ceremonial weigh-in of the old days and the fighters can cut the weight early and through the entire day instead of having to sleep dehydrated and what not

Step on the scale as you enter the cage. Be at the contracted weight or fight is cancelled. Walk of shame back to the dressing room. Next fight to the cage!

Commission to weigh your gear beforehand and add that weight as the allowance as you step in (shorts, cup, mouthpiece, gloves, wraps).

Of course weigh in backstage 1 hour before the walkout. Miss the weight, no walkout. Heavy fine, must move up in weight class for the next 12 months.

They can like it or not like it as fighters but as a fan I'm happy they're moving it back

The weigh ins used to be a must watch spectacle that turned into a pointless photo op

On top of that we're losing more fights than ever before to weight misses as well as more people missing weight and then their opponent being pressure to take the fight anyways

As a fan of the sport more people making weight and the weigh ins being entertaining again is in my best interest so I'm on board with it

I like Dolces proposal and it's actually how I first thought it worked when they started with the morning weighins.

Weighing in on Thursday is stupid since people will only try to cut even more because they have more time to recover

As an ex-muslim I want say shut the fuck up to Belal Muhammad ,it’s 2018.we have better ways for that than some stupid bullshit tradition from stone ages.

The common sense move is to allow early weigh-ins for the overwhelming majority of fighters who act professionally and want more time to recover with hydration prior to their fight time.

The only tweak needed here is allowing the ceremonial weigh-ins to be certified as well, if a fighter so chooses to wait until the last minute.

it's absolutely retarded and pathetic all the bitching these athletes are doing.

i think it's disingenuous. they don't actually weigh the category they are fighting in. we don't even know how heavy they are come fight night. there's no transparency in that. just fight at your natural weight class instead of trying to game the system and take advantage of size.

but why even allow the practice to begin with? if early weigh ins were done away with, wouldn't everyone move up a weight class and therefore everyone would be in an equal position again?

Thanks for posting ts. Angela hill probably has the most common sense solution

This. What’s the point of being champion of a division if you weigh 20-30 pounds over the weight limit at fight time.

Ok but do you not understand when EVERYBODY does it, they dont have much of a choice.

If that 185 pound man says "Ill just not cut and fight at MW with honor" hes going to get matched up with a guy that is willing to do the cut, and it becomes a 185lb man vs a 220lb man.
