Here's my reaction to that statement Conor just posted on Facebook:
If you're not prepared to read the whole post, skip to summary at the end and post back accordingly.
1. "I am just trying to do my job and fight here. I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote."
He states that he's not paid to promote, well why do you think so many people tune in? Of course many people love him for just his fights, but without a mic in front of him, he is a 10th of the exciting and polarizing figure he has become. Don't pretend and act like none of your dollars come from self-promotion Conor.
2. "50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation."
Hold on, since when has this man been on 50 world tours? or 200 press conferences? exaggeration much?
Also, why is it only now that it's "incorrect fight preparation"? It seemed to be just fine when you were beating Jose and Chad. Is it just that you're salty over losing and somehow are using the excuse, I didn't train enough?
The man had 3 months of training, he fought at his walking around weight - and lost to a 10 days notice, relaxing on a beach in Cabo, no training camp having, version of Nathan Diaz.
But of course, it wasn't Nate being better - it was too much media obligations right?
3. "Tim and Suzie's morning shows"?
How about Nate was on every show with you? on 10 days notice, and still won! Stop with the fucking excuses, you were made look stupid that night, and you prepared adequately mate.
4. "I must isolate myself now. I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time."
Thought he was the GOAT? 2 weight champion, 3 weight champion simultaneously right? and now the guy is describing Nate Diaz like he's Ivan Drago - you had a training camp last time, didn't change shit.
5. "He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out. Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation."
So this man is claiming that Nate had an advantage over him going into UFC 196? Hilarious.
The man is claiming that he might hit Cabo and down some tequila, because clearly Nate had an advantage having no preparation. Clearly Nate being at 2 press conferences in 10 days and having all the media appearances with you didn't happen. Cool story bro.
Summary:
Moral of the story, is you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
Media and promotion got you here, made you a star and got you that "cheddar", don't be a spoiled brat and think you can skip out on it now - because based off your last fight pal, you need to promote yourself, because you looked silly!
Fin. Thoughts?
