Conor was in control most of the fight...

However, he was not hurting Nate. He made the error of standing and trading shots. In Conor's words " they have a similar will but the skill does not match the will". In this instance the skill their will did not. In Nate's words" he would kill or be killed" and that's what happened. Like in the press conference weigh ins, Conor flinched when they were trading shots. Nate then went in for the finish.

With that said, what is the point of all that movement training if you are going to stand with your hands down and trade shots with the guy? It's why I love (or loved) watching Anderson Silva or Dominik Cruz fight. They are masters at movement inside the octagon. Conor it was all for show on instagram. He didn't show any of that last night and it cost him. He should have fought more disciplined and moved more. For a guy whose just said a few months ago that precision beats power he did the polar opposite last night. It was like watching a boss battle in a Mortal Kombat video game and Conor's health bar went down first then Nate went for the finish.

Very poor performance on Conor's part. Congratulations to Nate. He said exactly what he was going to do and did it.

precision and timing beats speed and power
stockton slaps beat precision and timing

Nate was brought in to lose to Conor with a full Camp. he was training for RDA so you can't say he was out of shape. all that movement is nice when you are dominating or your foe is in awe. it serves a purpose. majority of fighters would have gone to sleep with those shots. Nate was stunned at least 2 times maybe more. but stayed in there and pushed through. Conor broke once shit didn't go his way.

Nate said it was part of his strategy to just cruise in the first round due to his short camp (in the end of the 1st round he became more aggressive and started landing more, though). I think Nate was more calculated in his approach than you think.

I don't think it was a bad performance on Conor's part. He looked on point, if not better than in his previous fights. His head movement was good. He did what he always does and it did not work. He was missing more than he was landing. Conor crumbled when his best weapon did not have the effect he desired.

Nate was the superior martial artist, like he said.

Conor really hasnt shown great movement lately. He got tagged a lot in the mendes fight and the Aldo fight.. Well you know. Hes got a quick left and power but he kind of irks me when he talks about all other people with boxing backgrounds being amateur. Hes not exactly triple g in there landing bombs and taking zero punsihment as he always seems to claim.

At least you know that. Most haters won't admit it, but Conor is way better than that. He was Anderson but without movement in this fight. Now take a look in Conor past fights, where he actually used footwork to not get hit.

He wanted the highlight reel KO and pushed too hard for it, that was his downfall.

He was gassed. Too much muscle. More muscles need more oxygen. He would do great in FW and LW though.
