obv. it's compound exercises like deadlifts but maybe some of you guys have some underrated / not well known exercises to get some real raw (functional) strength. I want to start with wrestling again so my work out is mainly legs and back.

I have some exercises in my work out plan like;

Deadlift, Farmers walk, weighted pull/chin ups and dips, walking lunges. Currently trying to get a proper technique in clean & jerk. Turkish get up's are amazing too.

I'm a big fan of single arm landmine push press. I don't think it gets enough love.

Pushing/pulling a weighted sled & flipping/loading tyres is really good for brute strength. Best bit of equipment in my gym tbh.
Running with some form of drag like your mates holding you in a harness, throwing medicine balls at a wall, lifting oddly shaped objects or ones partly filled with water that moves about as you lift them are all good stuff.

Or get a brewery delivery job (the guys who unload metal barrels from trucks).

Agree...sled pushes, overhead barbell walks, heavy sandbag carries or heavy dball clean and over the shoulders.

Power cleans as well if you can get the technique dialed in. Would not just go heavy without learning the movement well from a coach

That's not powerlifting. It won't build strength

(just kidding Im pretending I don't know anything)

Burpees dog. Just don't quit after a few minutes like some fat powerlifter.

I'm confused as to why you think burpees build strength...

If anything you could argue power and some explosive plyometric type work if you did it in a certain way. But it's a textbook conditioning exercise, there's a reason football players do them in practice to condition + mental toughness because they do them till exhaustion

What you wanna do is squeeze yourself into a rubber body suit, lie down on your back and ass, and push a bar straight up for about 18 inches. You'll be so strong!!

Oh I didn't read that textbook I just do more burpees than anyone I've ever met and I'm strong even though I run 10 miles a day.

What does strong mean to you?

Do you think you could overpower and out-muscle an average build, average guy in BJJ or wrestling? Someone your size but above-average athleticism? Someone who's similar size but actually good to amazing at that?

Or would you define it though numbers like a PL would, bench-squat-deadlift maybe some other lifts too.

I mean awesome if you can run 10 miles a day and do 1000 burpees per day and still somehow lift weights (if you do) and maintain or even build muscle and strength, that's impressive.

But I doubt it, no offense. Maybe it's just because I hate long distancing running myself and don't run distance...but 10 miles a day seems pretty ludicrous to me. That's with you doing other shit on top of it? Over the internet on a forum I just don't believe that for a second, but admittedly I don't cross country or marathon run so I wouldn't know.

You'd basically be running almost a half marathon, 6 days a week you said or everyday? Then you're doing burpees, and lifting? Yeah idk I'd need to see that to believe it if I'm going to be honest with you.

I bet I could but there's always a bigger fish.

Quick window into the soul of terry mcloops. I grew up in a family crippled by addiction and got really deep into it myself. After a life of failure I got clean and what I've replaced opiates and drinking with is training. I don't have a lot of friends, dont drink, etc. I'm not stupid, I know I basically just post here for attention. I kinda get off on people not believing what I do. It motivates me on days I feel really beat up. I occasionally feel like sharing some wisdom because I used to think this was impossible too. I just love training.

Believe it dog.

Well I don't believe it lmao, no offense bro.

Sounds like you're trying to emulate David Goggins or something. But if you actually run 10 miles a day and shit, good for you.

My shits fucked up on my pace, my average pace is normally between 8 and 9 minute miles it says I go faster than I do.

ANYWAYS burpees are great. Check out the Iron Wolf on YouTube he can teach you professional burps that will get you strong and fit.
