He's currently ranked 13th, a former WW m1 champ, 19-1 (his sole loss being a split decision), and he's 4-0 in the UFC. He deserves a step up in competition, so I'm calling for a fight against Johnson or Dariush. I personally think that Johnson's agression would play right into Rashid's counter striking style and Rashid would win easily. A Dariush match-up would be more interesting, but perhaps less exciting.

What do you guys think? who do you want to see him against?

He needs to avenge his brothers and KO adriano martins.

Adriano Martins makes sense. I think Magomedov needs more one win before top 10 opponents

I think a top 15 guy like al laquinta is fair. It's not like Rashid is some type of prospect; he's been around for a long time, has nearly a flawless record, and has only looked challenged for about 30 seconds in his entire ufc career. I do like that Adriano Martins fight, though, and honestly I think Martins should be ranked right there in the top 15.

I like Johnson or Poirier as opponents. Or Johnson vs Poirier, that sounds great too. I love lightweight

Rashid has more than a few options in front Trinaldo, Khabilov, Martins, Poirier won't even look @HIM he wants T5 Johnson is coming off a good loss/showing to Diaz Rashid should try to force that fight...

I just hope he goes for the kill in his next fight. The dude is fucking talented but man he often uses cruise control. A fight vs Trinaldo makes sense, winner definately gets a top 10 opponent. Or he could fight the winner of Pearson vs Krause. Many options because lw is awesome.

Top 15 like Mairbeck, Iaquinta, Rustam, Trinaldo makes the most sense imo

Agreed. Watching a lot of his older fights I just found him to have great quickness along with really good hands... when he uses them - although he ends up not being as active as he can/should.

Though being 19-1 im guessing the style isnt affecting him in that regard.

And agreed - still many options for him at LW. Erik Koch would be a pretty good fight (though he just fought). Its hard to wrong with matchups in the LW division though, lots of talent there.

I don't know man. I guess it makes sense if you're only considering their UFC records, but Mairbeck was losing a few at lightweight in M1 when Rashid was the M1 champion at welter-weight with wins over great fighters like Frodo, shamil zavurov, Araujo, Enomoto, and yakovlev. Those wins mean something. He's also on a 12 fight win streak compared to Mairbeck's 4 fight win streak, and Rashid's streak is of higher quality opposition. As someone who has followed them since their M1 days, it just seems weird to have Mairbeck ranked around the same spot as Rashid.

That said, I'd take what I can get.

I think it's because he spent the majority of his career being significantly smaller than his opponents, and therefore he had to develop a counter type style in order to compete with their size advantages.

Look at him in there with guys like:

Enomoto

He was essentially cutting no weight when he was the M1 welter-weight champ. I like his style just fine, but it can be frustrating when he fights another counter striker.

Rashid and Martins have both been on ice for too long. Hope both get fights soon.

Adriano Martins or Francisco Trinaldo. Winner of the fight will slip into the top ten given some of the top 10 will be fighting each other and the losers will drop a few rankings.

Step up in competition for sure. Another guy on a streak ideally - Francisco Trinaldo or Mairbek Taisumov would be a good fights.
