Rarest MMA DVDs you have

I don't have any Pride from the '90s. Just 2000s. Earliest UFC I have is UFC 2. My MMA fan journey as I recall it was early UFC from the video store on VHS in the mid-'90s. Kept watching UFC as well as IFC. In the 2000s, I would find Pride DVD at various stores. And also the UFC DVD from that time. And then at a certain point in the mid-to-late 2000s it just no longer made sense to get DVD.
Yeah I still tried to keep up w DVDs but then in 2009 I lost my job and couldnt justify buying them anymore, especially since you could download the events on high speed interwebs by then pretty easily.

I got Laserdiscs . . .

Sounds like fond memories. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. It was a big effort back then wasn't it & not as many people were even aware of MMA. I use to have to explain it to people back before TUF. They were hard to get & had to wait longer for events, but geez it was worth the wait those days.

Thanks for being a devoted MMA old school fan. People these days complain of too much MMA at times & then when it's Christmas & there's a break, they complain still that there's not enough??. People just need to be greatful to be able to view content easier these days & don't appreciate the real collectors. Love your work! If you have some cool stuff we'd all love to see it. Sharing is caring.

I have (or had anyways) a dvd from some event called Hook n Shoot. I got it from way back when blockbuster was doing the mail in dvd thing and they didn’t want it back lol.

It had a few fighters on it that went on to have big names. Off the top of my head it had Matt Hume winning a fight, and that guy that fought for the lightweight belt and later turned I it to be a :eek::eek::eek:phile, Hermes Franca.

Other than that while not super rare, I have almost every Pride event in DVD. They used to sell these collections at Best Buy that came with like 5-6 events in a pack for like $20.

I got a ucc dvd with gsp in his early fight. A couple of K1 HERO’S mma dvds. I’m still mad I didn’t buy all of them when I could.

Totally understand, bruz. We all have moments where we can buy some really cool MMA, but don't end up getting it and regret it, for one reason or another. Money is a big factor for me & probably others. Just get something you really like. I'd be happy to sell ya' something if there's something I have you'd like? UCC is something that I wanted, but didn't get. It sucks!!

I've got about 6 Heros DVDs & a program. Heros was cool, so you've done well.

Anyway, thanks for joining in the conversation & DM me if ya'd like to purchase or chat.

Best wishes and happy new year. Never too late to collect shit.

Hook n Shoot is something i wanted, but never purchased as I was spending money on Pride & UFC mainly back early 2000's.

Herpies Franga was a good be jay jay fighter, but a shite person by the sounds. Matt Hume on the other hand was a good all round fighter and coach. Have seen some of his early fights on youtube and he was tough for those times.

Those packs sound like a bargain. Pride was the best back then, so..........

Procrastination was my problem but I passed my “collecting” phase. I may download if possible the events I’m missing, just to watch. Happy new year and good vibe to you bro.

I got my prides there too.

I have Yamma 1 recorded onto DVD. I also was one of the lucky few that was sent a tshirt in the mail for ordering the PPV.

Hey UFC if your charging us $80 a ppv now plus the price of subscription for ESPN+ send us a goddam tshirt!

Maybe not rare but dad and I had this King of the Cage huge mega box set back in the day that featured herb dean, I think Chris Leben, and a few other OGs long before the ufc. We loaned it out and never got it back. Can’t remember the box set name. Wish I could.

KOTC was good back then. The wet & wild event was crazy with the fighters slipping around on the canvas. Think Herb was in an early one (too lazy to search it).

Below are the box set I have, so the one you had may be one of them. The middle one below I think had Herb. I put a pick of the back cover, too.

Sucks loaning stuff out & not getting it back:-(

ADCC had some big names in those events, but I just can't sit & watch heaps of grappling like I can MMA. I do appreciate it still, so had to buy at least 1 DVD though:-)

Just wondering what DVDs that some of you have collected over time that you found were hard to come by. Here are 4 I found hard to find.

View attachment 960483 Jungle fight is pretty cool. Besides having Bonner vs Machida on the event, the DVD included a small Inkoi figure.

I don't have it but there was a decent one back in like 2002 called rites of passage. Was kinda like a documentary but not. If you seen it you know what I am talking about.

I thought that was really good when I first saw it. My mate bought it, so I didn't end up buying a copy, but I did buy Smashing Machine & Choke, which are great, too.

There's meant to be a Rickson Gracie doco/movie to be released on netflix called Dead or Alive by 'Narcos' Director Jose Padilha to come out, but haven't heard of any updates for a while now?
