I looked at the rankings and I saw my very own Justin Scoggins dropped two places in the Flyweight division.

Apparantly Matheus Nicolau (12-1, 2-0 UFC) is already ranked after a split decision win over John Moraga. His first win was a submission win in the third round against Bruno 'Korea' Rodrigues in november 2015.

What's going on?

UFC official rankings are atrocious.

However, that HI guy knows how to rank... So i've heard...

well it's not absurd, you beat a ranked guy you get ranked

Also, he is not ranked after 2 fights. He is ranked after 13 fights. One can be ranked in the top 5 (not UFC rankings, but overall rankings) without ever stepping into the UFC. It is not unfathomable that a top prospect gets ranked by the UFC after only one fight in their organization.

Strikeforce and PRIDE fighters were given immediate title shots upon entering the UFC. Yes, sure, those were more major organizations, but it wasnt "being ranked after 2 fights" it was immediate title shots.

Even the UFC recognizes the accomplishments of fighters in other organizations, so why don't you, TS?

If Vannata KOd Ferguson in the first round just like that, wouldn't you rank him somewhere inside top15?

The division will be absorbed into 135 by next year anyway, so don't sweat it.

Not a chance. I hope everyone burns in hell if they take a division away. Can't stand that shit in the major pro sports when they keep tweaking shit and over reacting.

There will be an influx of flyweight talent the more MMA becomes popular in asia.

You must be a lot of fun to be around. Shit, the entire world has to suffer because of something a small group of people did that you consider the wrong choice? o_O

I don't know if 135 shallows 125. I doubt it. But MM will be the champ of both in around a year or a little more.

Feel free to hop on this wagon... It's happening.

If i say it's wrong than it's wrong.
fair enough, you raise a very good point

Moraga is/was a top 10 guy and he beat him, so

He beat a ranked got so he got ranked. It's not exactly rocket science here. It's better than when Myles Jury shot up the rankings at Lightweight because he had a win over Michael Johnson who was getting all the ranked wins.

the champ is fighting ultimate fighter winners....
It's a young division and both the MW and ww divisions have done this. The division is young enough that stacking tuf will provide relatively better challengers to the division than either Serra or litter were (on paper, we know Serra proved his worth at least for a moment)
