I'm curious to see how this goes. as before khabib came around it was really really hard to pin down who the best LW of all time is or was. Khabib and BJ penn have dominated this conversation, but outside of those 2 no one has ever stayed on top for too long. Curious how you'd rank the top 10 LW. It's really hard actually,

1 Khabib
2 Penn
3 Henderson
4 Alverez
5 Dos Anjos
6 Gomi
7 Pettis
8 Edgar
9 Melendez
10 Chandler

Just for fun how would you do it? It was hard to not put guys like Ferguson, Oliveria, Diaz, Porier, Gaethje, Thompson, Cerrone, Kawajiri but I'm not sure they can make the cut.

I think the rest of 6-10 order is pretty debatable: Eddie, Poirier, RDA, Charles, Bendo, Pettis.

Lol no islam?

Islam has 2 wins vs top 10 ranked LW's and one of those guys is Dan Hooker. He has just 1 title defense too and it's vs Volk coming up in weight which was a controversial decision. To put Islam on this list is seriously questionable and if he's anywhere in the top 5 you're probably just a delusional fanboy. He might get there, as far as talent and skill goes he's one of the best LW's I've ever seen no doubt but off of merit alone? I'D STRUGGLE to say he has earned a spot in the top 10 LWs of all time thus far.

Last few sports are very tough. It could almost be Pettis and Aoki in the last couple of spots.

Last time there was a thread like this, I worked through my ranking a bit and came to the realization that Benson should be above BJ Penn.

Secretly I Think i feel the same way too. It's just hard with BJ because of how well he did at higher weightclasses.

Ferg and Dustin aren't champs.

That could be the difference in our rankings—I don’t weigh that, I specifically exclude it. If we’re doing a LW ranking, I evaluate a fighter’s fights at LW only.
