So I'm going back and watching all the UFC and PRIDE events in chronological order . It's fun because I haven't seen all of the events...I started watching MMA in 2005. So it's real fun because I don't know who wins a majority of the fights.

So what I do in addition....to give me a feel for the division at the time is look at the historic rankings at fight matrix. It's cool...it shows their ranking and record at the time and they have rankings 3x for every year.

My question is....is there a good way to look at old fighter interviews? Old press conferences? Play by play results? News columns? What if I wanted to watch an interview with Nick Diaz from before and after TUF Finale 2 when he fought Diego Sanchez? I've tried searching google and youtube and I've had a hard time finding anything.

The wayback machine is definitely a great option but it doesn't let you view all the pages of a website, only what it has snapshots of. So any ideas on how to find media content from the older days (1990-2005ish)

but in reality I dont think there is agood way besides youtube

Dude, what an awesome journey to take. I hope you have tons of fun.

To be honest, if any of those old videos still exist, you'll most likely have some deep youtube searching to do.

Hit the torrent sites for Pride DVD packs... A lot of them have BTS extras and so on.

Also check out the IFL, old Strikeforce and WEC... You can see how it all took shape and why certain guys are so revered... MMA was so much better 10-15+ years ago.

Netflix has 10 volumes of Classic UFC (before 2004) and they have three IVC vale tudo discs (one is the birth of the Axe Murderer), and they have Pride FC events from 2000-2005. They let you sign up and drop an account in the same month.

Fight pass has all UFC and PRIDE events. It does seem to crash a lot. Like at least once per event it seems. I've seen a couple Vale Tudo events like Absolute FC.

Yeah when I first started watching MMA I was into those 3 orgs. So far right now I'm upto 1999 in PRIDE and 1997 in UFC. Trying to get caught up on the UFC so I can watch them in perfect order. Might start seeing if I can find other MMA events at the time. It definitely is fun.

Thanks for the tip bro

IFL and old strikeforce were awesome. I miss Pride too.

I don't care what anybody says, I liked the WCL , team kickboxing with one member from each weight and a gal. Each contestant fights twice in a night and there were great fights in between the moments of "passivity". I still watch the best KO's DVD like once a year.

Enjoy your journey, and look forward to me asking you any question about old fights since you'll have seen them all haha!

youtube has a ton of stuff, beyond that your guess is as good as mine.

I have another random question:

When was the first cage fight in US history? It wasn't UFC 1, that would be too easy or was it?

1. Find an mma site at least 20 years old

2. Head over to archive.org and plug in said site

3. Choose the year your looking to explore

4. Enjoy
