I like listening to Joe Rogan’s podcast on the road. One of the more interesting topics he brings up is Rafiel Torre. I have tried finding out more about this guy, even finding an old thread on The Underground MMA site but not much else.
I did find the story about him having a buddy drive him to some woods under the guise of some secret kumite karate tournament in the woods. Crazy dude and pretty interesting stuff.
Anyone hear about this dude? Got anything that hasn’t been mentioned about him on the JR podcast?
 
I remember when he was a hot topic on Sherdog back in the olden days
 
There was an article on his time in prison and how he went in talking too loud , put pictures of fighters up in his cell bragging about who he knew and was eventually raped and beaten badly , per a prison guard source . Not sure how he’s doing now .

I remember waaaayyyyy back in the day I ordered a shitty KOTC boxset off of Sherdog when Sherwood was still running the show and he featured pretty heavily in the behind-the-scenes interviewing action. Then he had some grudge match against a massive fat Samoan guy. Before the fight took place they talked about him being 14-0 in underground pit fights and try as we might we never managed to uncover where these things took place. The guy was a massive chode and really epitomized the late90's MMA wannabe to a "T". I guess he ended up killing some guy with a choke a while back; not sure if he's still in jail or what the particulars are.

I'm pretty sure he was pals with Eddie Bravo and his gang, which wouldn't be the first time Eddie's involved himself with frauds and MMA/sub grappling poseurs.

Yeah Eddie eventually called him out but yeah from the videos I’ve seen online the guy is featured in a lot of behind the scenes reports interviewing fights and the like. I agree from everywhere I’ve researched on the guy he’s quite the Dbag fraud who was the poster boy of the 90’s frauds with tales of an undefeated record of unverifiable fights, no rules tourneys, etc... I wish I could find some of the articles he wrote back in the day when he was working as a journalist for The Underground(?).
 
There is a guy on YouTube who does videos about martial arts frauds. He has a weird cadence when he narrates. But they’re pretty good.

Just found the video(s) you speak of. Basically confirmed all the shit I already suspected. Apparently it's a life sentence he earned for the RNC fatality, too.
