Totally agree except for Smashing Pumpkins as a band with Corgan. The latter solo sux. Morrissey is pure crap and another disgrace in pop rock, even coz of his absurd political ideology.

Other pretentious and overrated artists are 70% of singers-gone-solo like Sting , just to name 1 of hundreds.

I know, I know ....not everyone is cut out for rock or true pop and one of those is you :):)....there are other things one can talk about, but the serious musical stuff is for real men, not wimps :)

But Radiohead don't make pure rock and the only two albums of theirs that could ever really be called rock by anyone are Pablo Honey and the Bends. After that they're just not a rock band. If you're expecting them to sound like Queens of the Stone Age or something then that's why they could be a let down for you.

I don't see how you can say they're not talented. They're an extremely innovative band.

First of all, the term "rock" today is over-used and abused too....I use the term "rock" in the widest of ways of course....and I never used the adjective pure before this term.
Innovative does not necessarily mean talented....get it?! QOTSA is another wimpy useless and pretentious band as well, just like RH. Get it ???!

I don't get how QOTSA are wimpy at all. They've got some very crunchy riffs.

Of course, music tastes are subjective, but QOTSA never got under my skin in the same way RH didn't .....the diff is that the big problem with the former lies in the very bad arrangements of their songs, but with RH, the problem goes deeper into the very nature of their sound.

And who would Sarah Sleen cover instead if she just had the guts? What stigma exists in 21st century first world culture that would create such fear to cover that artist?

The Sarah Slean cover was from her college days before she had a career in music, she covered a bunch of popular songs from that era (I went to her early shows in the late 90s). She now writes & sings her own songs and covers whatever she wants from traditional folk songs to modern pop.

I cover Creep and Karma Police, people like it. But I don't give much of a toss about Radiohead, never did. tbh I haven't even listened to enough of their music to have a strong opinion about them. Their sound just doesn't exactly suck me in. or off.

That doesn't answer the question. It doesn't address the claim he made. His contention is she would cover them because she didn't have the guts to cover better, more substantial, more talented artists.

Yet, towards your implication, if you wish to claim she only covered them because they were popular: what were all the artists she covered? We can easily assess if she was covering only the Mariah Careys and Boyz II Men and Janet Jacksons and Celine Dions of the era, and never celebrated artists that usually didn't chart, if they charted at all.

People beware !! I perceive that many posts on this forum are simply AI responses !! The invasion has commenced !!!

radiohead being pretentious is hilarious. one of the most commercially & critically successful bands in musical history lmao

Hahahahaha, where have you been in the last 60 odd years ? On Uranus ? :):):)
in honor of how out-of-touch i am, here's one of my favorite live performances ever where the pretentious, inaccessible radiohead headlined the biggest music festival (of the time) in western europe
