I'm noticing people saying x fighter "ducked" y fighter WAY too loosely...

1. You can't "duck" someone if you fight someone harder instead... Conor didn't duck Edgar by agreeing to fight Dos Anjos (which turned into Nate Diaz)

2. You can't "duck" someone if you end up fighting them anyway... Woodley attempted to duck Wonderboy by getting a GSP fight, but then he fought Wonderboy anyway... You can't in hindsight say he "ducked"

3. You can't claim a fighter is "ducking" another when they haven't had a chance to fight yet... You can't claim Aldo is ducking Holloway or vice versa... Holloway/Pettis was not originally an interim fight and IT JUST HAPPENED... You can't claim either one is ducking, not unless it is postponed via the fault of one of the fighters or one of them straight up refuses in order to receive an easier path.... If Aldo hypothetically filled in for an injured Khabib or Tony, he is not ducking Holloway...

Conor ducked Frankie twice. Once when it turned into the Diaz fight, and then when Frankie fought Cub instead.

GSP ducked Anderson for years. But it was the smartest decision of his career. The guy is one of the smartest fighters in the game so what do you expect?

Only Sherdog can make its opinions seem like its the cold hard fact.

1. Conor ducked defending his belt the second and third time he refused, but I agree the first time would be unfair to call a duck, with the exception that he told Aldo he'd give him a rematch and then immediately booked a different fight instead and, as such, could legitimately be construed as ducking the rematch.

2. Trying to duck is as bad as ducking.

3. Agreed.

4. Also would add: being injured is not ducking.

I agree 100%, but the MMA fanbase is now 95% little fuckin queers who get their panties in a bunch if certain fighters don't do exactly what they want....so our cries will probably fall on deaf/fuccboi ears.

Stop taking fans seriously.

The majority of what MMA fans type is bait and trolling and talking shit from a nonsensical perspective because they can and there isn't anything to stop them. A HUGE majority of them don't have a clue how to fight and the ones that do train can't compete on an elite level.

They're all angry piss ants. The fans that respect the sport and the fighters are who you should take seriously.

Nonsense...

He ducked the FW division, in general. And eventually he specifically ducked the interim champ. Proven by the fact that he was stripped. If he wasn't ducking...Why would he be stripped ? They can't just strip a belt for no reason.

It was his ducking that caused there to be an interim belt to begin with, ffs.

Smarten up.

Agreed. Saying that Conor ducked Edgar or is ducking Aldo doesn't make any sense. He fought Dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez. Danny Garcia fighting Rod Salka was ducking the top light welterweights, because the guy wasn't even ranked. Canelo fighting Liam Smith was him ducking a fight with Golovkin. But if you fight someone better like Dos Anjos over Edgar, how is it ducking?

Essentially, you're saying that if a lesser fighter calls you out, but you take a fight with a better fighter, you're ducking said lesser fighter. You're saying that if Nik Lentz called out Doo Ho Choi but he took the Swanson fight instead, he's then ducking Lentz. Like I said. It doesn't make any sense. Everyone would be ducking every single fighter on the roster that's below them.

The term "duck" around here generally means a fighter that a moron doesn't like doesn't fight a fighter that the same moron does like. Regardless of whether or not the fighter has even been offered the fight.

That was long winded.

The term "duck" around here generally means that an ignorant, biased "fan" doesn't like a fighter.

Chris Weidman before he was the #1 contender for the MW title shot was called out by Vitor Belfort. When he was on TRT and a straight killer and Chris refused the fight. He was scheduled to fight him and when it became illegal Vitor said he could be clean in time and still wanted the fight. The UFC never out right said Chris refused the fight, but Vitor said he was ready and by the time they fought he was a shell of the vitor he'd been to get the shot. They ended up fighting eventually, some would say Machida would always been the tougher opponent regardless of the TRT Vitor was on. Yet in my opinion Weidman still ducked him.

so when conor does it, it's not ducking, but when woodley does it, it's attempted ducking,

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
