i think you're both right. sure, we understand mental health better now than ever before, but i also think people are giving up too easily when the "toxicity" is not that serious.

One, you don't get to judge when toxicity is that serious (and your quotation marks tell me you don't really take it seriously). Two, if you ask someone to respect your boundaries, and they refuse, you have every right to limit the amount of harm and discomfort they can do to you. There is a mental load that comes with dealing constant discomfort, unhappiness and mistreatment, and no person should be asked to bear that load unilaterally -- and that's exactly what happens when the offending person will not moderate their behaviors or respect boundaries.

Yeah and OJ Simpson was a Heisman winner and that legless guy who shot up his girlfriend was an Olympian. Shocker, high level athletes can still be POS. Not saying Rampage is as bad as them but being good at sports doesn't make you a great person (or father) on its own.

except there's people who disown their families because of a different political view. that's not toxicity or trauma, that's just an opinion about a single thing and allowing it to encompass the entirety of your relationship with that person. ironically, i consider the person disowning their family over politics a toxic person.

Kinda fucked up to bring up in public to anyone let alone a professional fighter. Quinton got a ton of bad press over this and, while it’s his kid, he had him 20-some years ago. Most influence comes within the first 7 years of a child’s life… I doubt he’s the same dude he was when he was trying to raise him.

Regardless, fuck Raja. Seems like a mix of a spoiled brat and a hoodrat… probably because of Rampage’s financial situation at various points in his life. But he’s a grown man and should know not to try to beat someone into a coma for almost any reason.

Clearly didn’t have a great upbringing though.

It's not true at all that it's "a single thing" or that it's not traumatic. When I see people disconnecting from their families over politics, it's because they know real people who are being significantly, severely harmed by the politics their family members support. I live in Canada, which that idiot Trump has been threatening to annex and ruin economically -- I would absolutely dump family members who supported him because of the harm and devastation Trump's actions would cause. I highly doubt you would not have fallen out with family members who supported al qaeda after 9/11.
