Ilia made a statement with his ko, but the other two questions I was wondering about were left unanswered.
The first - can Ankalaev win in impressive fashion and/or can Rakić finally fulfill his potential? The fight was a stinker that only raises more questions - how good is Ank’s grappling really? Why did Rakić stop throwing combinations? Why was his corner telling him he was doing ok going into the third?
The second - can Rob survive Khamzat’s early onslaught and drag him into championship rounds? It obviously didn’t happen. Great win for Khamzat, but his monster round one assault was a known thing.
Tl dr: the Alex - Ank threads and Khamzat threads will be the same for months to come.
