Question: How would you handle a fighter like this?

I would fire him, but because I know you are talking about Handsome Chad Paulo Costa, I will give him the biggest salary more than any fighter.

I mean, I think I agree with this -- Hansome Chad Costa can't be denied everything he has. I'd even argue that should he lose his next fight, he should be guaranteed a title fight, but only if he misses weight. Don't ask for my logic as I don't understand myself either. I don't make the rules.

The thing is, that he is highly marketable, has an exciting fighting style, good looks and is good on the mic.

On the otherhand we have similar examples from many other fighters too, it just depends how you want to look at things.
And most of them do not have even close the same marketing value as your example.

You could also have started your story …
- gets KOTF out by a BJJ guy
- gets caught pissing hot with Meldonium
- comes out with a shady surgery excuse
- is inactive and steps out of fights for religious reasons
- has only made weight on a shady Abu Dhabi scale
- gets rewarded with a title shot by winning a catchweight fight against a non ranked opponent

And the UFC actually used the fighter in your example, to sell the tickets for the event, because they knew that the fighter in my example is not a draw.

If you were a promoter/matchmaker and there's a guy on your roster who's been through all this:

- Suspended six months by USADA for IV therapy after the weigh-ins against Bamgbose and Hendricks
- Comes back and gets rewarded with a title fight, but fails miserably against the champ he didn't take as a threat
- Disappears for a year, then misses the weight by 25 lbs in the return, forcing the opponent to accept a LHW bout. Loses the fight and says it's because of drinking wine the night prior
- Somehow gets another chance at MW against a washed-up Rockhold who's been away for 3 years (after getting KO'd in 3 out of the last 4 bouts). Goes the distance and looks kinda bad
- Still rewarded with a top name despite everything, but for the second time he ducks Robert Whittaker and openly comes with special demands instead. Later calls out Nick Diaz who's had one single fight in the last 8 years

What would be the fair thing to do in a scenario like this one?
If Dana can make money off him, he'll negotiate more fights.

If it becomes too expensive, he'll pull the plug.

It's really just that simple.

But of course he won't just let him walk if he can help it, because he'd rather have leverage.

To quote Tony Soprano:

"See, that's why you're a politician and not a businessman. Maximum value is the big picture."

Yeah but didn't Merriam-Webster jump on the woke train and its changing the definitions of words it the last two years. The new definition a women and man is comical and they even changed Vaccine. But its still has a little cred for now. Hey Lookism works for me.
i dunno, this looks pretty standard https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/man

Lookism is a big part of incel/femcel philosophy, also part of aesthetics philosophy. all pretty shallow stuff in my view.

Yeah I guess the definition of Man hasn't changed that bad in Merriam-Webster. Isn't Merriam-Webster the definitive source when it comes to definitions of words I really don't know any others..but then again I went to Public Schools.

Offer him the names he's supposed to fight until he fights or lives a poor life without income while bitching about on social media.

Wouldn't give two fucks about who/when/how he wants to fight.

What I would do if I called the shots in the UFC? I don’t know as there's alot of behind the scenes stuff i don’t know about. Sounds like there was some fuckery going on behind the scenes with that last Whittaker fight.

With what we know i'd probably pay him more and try to negotiate a new contract. Your attempt at a bash thread didn't work.
The attitude in your post feels a bit unfair. I listed various things and asked what should be done in this specific case. It seems like you tried to figure out some kind of agenda in the OP when there is none.

It would have been interesting with a thought-through response, where you need to think of the image and policy of your organization.

You straight up skipped the part where Costa beat the #1 contender Yoel Romero to get the titleshot. Of course im going to assume there's an agenda. He wasn't "rewarded" anything.

Wasnt the wine thing from the Adesanya fight??

Nothing special, does he bring the views? Meet his minimum demands and move on, he is fun in and out of the cage.

I think it's the oxford English dictionary that's always been number 1.
