Question about staph infections

is the risk of staph infection really that high when you do bjj or other grappling arts? I really wanted to start taking bjj or submission wrestling but if thats the case ill pass.

this is like saying, "I'm not going to drive a car since there is a risk of getting into a car accident"

These products got ya covered before and after Athletic Body Care Products and get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

I want to note here that the 'Foaming Skin Sanitizer' by Atheletic Body Care is basically just over priced Bactine/Antiseptic Spray.

Foaming Skin Sanitizer

Active Ingredient: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.13%

Exactly the same as Bactine or Walgreens generic, but $10 instead of $5.

Would also like to note that the MRSA 'super bug' is resistant to Benzalkonium Chloride, ie this stuff is ok for general infections but its not a cure all. I suggest keeping a bottle/can in your gym bag to spray on abrasions and cuts you get, and then go home and rinse the wound with hydrogen peroxide. And then, of course, wash your stank ass.

Or, even better just get a hydrogen peroxide antiseptic spray, which usually runs about $2 to $4 tops and is more effective than benzalkonium chloride against staph.

wanted to add: if you get MRSA, neither hydrogen peroxide nor benzalkonium chloride will do jack against it. Go to ER, or die. Your choice.
