If DC who's nearly 40 years old beats Stipe, is that more impressive than GSP coming out of retirement to beat Bisping? What's your opinion about this?

I mean, obviously right? Stipe is a much, much better champion than Bisping.

GSP would still be GOAT though, as he was before he came back from retirement. I see what you did there...

Under normal circumstances, it would be obvious. But DC is active. GSP was retired for 4 years. It´s why i ask.

Yes, though GSPs run at WW is the best ever imo.

How is this a question? Seriously dude? Cormier is stepping up to fight one of the great HW's of all time in his prime. GSP cam out of retirement against, lets face it: A guy who would lose to 90% of the MW top ten and probably a handful of WW's too. He also was the wrong side of 30 with one eye. A guy who in all honestly caught liquid luck in winning that title.

Of course Stipe is a great champion and Bisping wasn´t. But DC was originally a HW and is an active fighter. GSP was retired for over 4 years and had never fought at MW. I just wanted to know people's opinion about it.

I don't think the 4 years is as huge a deal as people think. Let's say Bisping never got that last minute injury replacement spot. He's still the same fighter right?

Most people coming off a long lay-off fight a lower ranked guy in their return. Outside of that victory, Bisping has typically been ranked between #9 - #12.

Winning the title was great for Bisping, but the reality is, he was still a #9 - #12 guy. He was just a #9 - #12 guy with a belt.

For sure, Bisping was not even close to being the best middleweight at the time, also a very favourable match up for GSP. On the other hand, no one would even argue that Stipe isn't the best heavyweight right now, DC would solidify himself as one of the greatest fighters ever if he can get the win.

Bisping was ranked higher than that when he fought Rockhold. Weidman and Jacare were injured and Yoel was suspended so Bisping was next in line. While I wouldn't have called Bisping the best in the division at any point people have gone overboard trying to discredit him.

Dc would lol. He'd tell you Cain is the best. What if dc fought gsp after this fight though. That would be insane

No need to start a thread to ask a question where the answer is so blatantly obvious. One fought champ who didn't belong in that position as champ, while the other is fighting a champ that some are considering to be the goat heavyweight. Also, Cormier is 40 while GSP was 35 i think, that makes it even more impressive.

i think probably not. your almost comparing two diff things.
ask any fighter how hard it would be to have thar much time off and fight a guy as active as bisping. take into account DC was originally a HW.. and has fucked up a few decent HWs in the past and i think Gsps achievement wins... BUT that is not to say DC beating stipe wouldnt be impressive as fuck.

He was ranked #8.
