Okay, so my niece is a toddler, and my little brother was wanting to purchase another safety seat, but he was hoping to purchase one that is highly secure, obviously, but just as easy to move from car to car. The Graco ones he's bought might be fantastic, and their company might have the best engineers and all that, but it seems like they purposely make installing the things into the car as difficult as possible so that you get frustrated and just buy one for every car. They're already expensive as hell, so no.

I'm hoping there Sherdogger parents who have had experience with this. The BabyTrend Convertible Protect seat we tried was just a godawful design. The buckle-latches that anchor the seat on both sides are simply too long. Even tying knots in the belt it's nearly impossible to get the seat tight enough that the front end of the safety seat won't spin from left to right, and effectively it's just as difficult to put in and take out as the Graco's.

This one is the bestseller on Amazon in the "Convertible" section, which appears to be the class of all the seats he has purchased or is considering, but the price is unnervingly low. We're not after cheap.
Amazon product ASIN B006PB2B6OI dunno, maybe this is just a fantasy. I feel like we may be trying to defy the laws of physics. If the seat is going to be truly secure, then it's going to be an undertaking to install it securely. But I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Anyone experienced with this?

I don't think any of them are going to be easy to move from car to car. Especially when you attach them to the side anchors and the rear anchor, and tighten. If you just use a shoulder strap (to hold the seat in), it may not be so bad, but I always felt the anchors were safer. Odd that there's too much slack in that one strap, though. Maybe contact the manufacturer?

However, once they get older and switch to a booster seat with shoulder strap, it's a breeze.

BTW, we had a Graco at one point, and then a Britax, I think. But I think Britax are kind of expensive. Don't remember if we bought or if someone gave it to us.

Call the fire department, they are known for installing child seats and might even do it for free. They charge a fee where I live but they used to just do it.

as for the seat you cant put a price safety. Better to buy a decent one than a cheapo. We bought a good seat off craigslist that was only a few months old. Just dont get one that might expire while using it.

Have a Britax but checked out many different types. They're all difficult to move from car to car. I take mine with me when I fly to Florida and it's just a pain to put it into a rental.

You didn't understand the OP. We don't lack the competence to install the seats securely. We have difficulty pulling them out and moving them from car to car. Each time is a hassle. Calling the Fire Department each time we wanted to move a seat from one car to the other would be a significantly larger hassle than handling it ourselves.

We ended up getting 2 convertible car seats for our son (he's 2.5) just to avoid the hassle of trying to move one from car to car. Both are Graco (I think). I don't remember the model names, but I remember the one I installed in my car took for-fucking-ever. Luckily, one of the car seats was paid for via baby shower gift cards.

WTF the Graco's arent rocket science. lol

You could still call them and get advice. They do this and they have tricks for installing car seats in one or both cars and should go over it with you. I was told the same thing my midwives. The fire dept. want you to install those properly? or should.

It's been a while, but unless something has changed radically, secure = more work to put in/remove/switch cars.

When will the manufacturers build car seats or at least mounts for them into vehicles?

Go to your local fire station. They can install it for you.

Nearly all of them are a pain in the ass. I've only owned Britax, 2 of which were Marathons. The older Marathon was an absolute dream to install/uninstall. The newer one is a fucking nightmare.

My wife took our SUV to get serviced at the dealership one day and they always take everything out that she needs and put it in her loaner car. Two dudes from the dealership took about 45 minutes to get it out and installed in the loaner car. She was laughing her ass off watching those 2 monkey-fuck that car seat for so long, and she claims they knew what they were doing.

She sounds like a jerk

Buy the safest one. Graco is good.

They aren't that difficult to move from car to car once you learn how to use the latch system hooks. I can move mine from car to car in under 3 minutes.

Yeah, it's not difficult at all.
