Qualcomm announced a new style of Snapdragon chip the Snapdragon XR chip. It has a number of features that improve the gameplay on headsets with limited hardware specs. Meaning these will not be the best possible gaming headsets but will provide the right mix and 60 + hz frame rates at 1080 resolution for most games. It maybe what is features in Facebooks new Oculus Go dedicated headset. People who have tried the Oculus Go headset where impressed by the fact it supported the complete library of Oculus mobile games.

The rumor is that Samsung is working with Microsoft on a stand alone VR/AR headset that will use Microsoft inside/out tracking for 6 degrees of freedom mobile headset. Very likely another device that will feature the Qualcomm chip and likely the Microsoft designed motion tracking chip for full 6 DOF. Microsoft developed a chip they are licensing to 3rd parties to use in their products while supporting Microsoft's Mixed Reality platform likely for mobile devices.
