International Qatari air base in Idaho?

Such a statement could only have been made for 2 reasons by the logic that Qatar has been this massive ally since before Trump said it.

- He was outright lying and taking advantage of their friendship to sound tougher than he is.

or

- He was so geopolitically ignorant he actually thought it was true.

Both are terrible.

What does this response have to do with what I posted? Is the US Air Base in Qatar irrelevant?

When I was in Basic Training back in '87 we were training Iraqi pilots at Lackland AFB, in San Antonio. They could do it there. The infrastructure is already in place.

Fair enough, although after Qatar "gifted" a $4B jet to Trump anything involving that country should get extra scrutiny, and this seems WAY over the top and unprecedented.

And it's costing $1B of our money to retro-fit it. And of course Trump gets to keep the jet when he leaves. It's a clear violation of the emoluments clause, but the Constitution to this administration is more a list of suggestions rather than laws.
