@RR If GGG beats Canelo would you reconsider a fight with Jacobs at 160 for all those belts or is it pretty much only Canelo at 160 or moving up in weight?

I would have to know that Danny could comfortably make 160. Belts and money aren't worth him ruining his health. It would be a conversation we would have though for sure

How would you weigh up being physically gifted with being mentally gifted?

And have you met any fighters that turned up on the night so well they could've missed an entire camp and still fought great? Or is that not really a thing when fighting at a high level for 12 rounds.

give us an honest stance on rigo's career. Are a lot of his career failings due to his inability to promote himself? Does he overvalue himself? Or is he the kind of guy that legitimately nobody wants to face?

also, have you ever dealt with Teiken? They seem to be pretty easy to work with from what I can tell.

Good question. Physically gifted get you further because you can't teach it. Look how far a guy like Jeff Lacy got. You can help guys with the mental aspects of the game if they are willing to listen.

His biggest problem is Arum didn't know how to promote him. He literally did nothing and then shit on his own fighter. TR is a shit show though until Todd takes over. The finding and opponent was an issue too as he is obviously a top 5 p4p guy but doesn't draw. In terms of overvaluing himself, all fighters do.

Only met the Teiken guys when they were working with Valero and Linares at TR in Vegas. Seemed disorganized. Can't really give you an answer business wise as it was way too small a sample

Valero in Vegas? Oh yeah that had to be pretty crazy. Any good stories on that psycho running around Vegas gacked out of his mind?

Actually he was quiet and kept to himself. He would actually tell people outside of the gym who asked for pictures or autographs that they had the wrong person. Loved to sit in his spot and just drink. Definitely had no interest in boxing outside of it being his job. He didn't start doing coke heavy in Vegas until after he fought in Austin. Hylon Williams (another mess) happened to be on that same card. Valero actually gave me a pair of handwraps signed "Para Mi Amigo" and the the same with a poster. You could tell he battled demons but would have never expected anything like what happened. He was nice to the people around him as hard as that probably is to imagine

wow that is surprising. thanks for the feedback. I would've thought he loved fighting considering his style in there. Maybe that's why he ko'd so many guys, he just wanted to get the fuck out of there asap, lol. He had a tough life that's for sure. Always wondered if that motorcycle accident contributed to any character change and maybe that was part of the reason things ended the way they did.
 
@RR Does it piss you off when other fighters/promoters misrepresent stuff in the media about Jacobs? For example just today I read a GGG interview and he said he wants to fight Jacobs but that Jacobs team is "silent so far" about it and that GGG is ready for that fight.

Also why not just go kill Chavez Jr? That seems like the easiest 168 pound fight out there and he always pulls a crowd.

Nah. It is how it goes in boxing. Can't be concerned about bs as it is out there daily. Fights aren't made in the media
like I said before and there is a reason GGG never has landed a major fight.

You may waste a date. Kid doesn't care at all. He isn't an easy fight either. Great chin and a great body puncher.

What are your thoughts on the "suspected" corruption in judging fights? Is it real, how does it typically happen, is it the promoter outright paying money under the table for their guy, is it the assumption by a judge that they get favorable accommodations or more fights if they lean toward a certain promoter's fighter with "clout"? Or do they sometimes just get it wrong?
How does this stuff happen (Canelo scorecards for example) and how could it be stopped?

As mentioned, thanks for taking questions, RR. Valero yarn is shocking. I imagined a constant plane crash into a train wreck with the guy, interesting that he wasn't at all that.

And per the other post from BluntTrauma21, I've seen a few folks over the last few decades, for real three, where a head injury that didn't hurt their physical abilities changed their personality and in all three cases made them more short-fused and even one guy violent when he had never been violent. I'm not talking petty stuff, a motorcycle or car wreck and a closed head injury. A bleed. Changed personalities, though. Profound. Not saying that happened because I don't know Valero from a hole in the ground, but I have seen that happen 100% for sure.
