I dont like to see this kind of grandstanding and hotdogging, its gonna ruin sumo!

Do you work for the JSA? That's legit some shit they would say lmao. I'm honestly amazed they haven't said anything about it yet. Dudes will get docked for celebrating a win in a heartbeat.

Nah man, that's salt lol. It's a Shinto thing, to purify the dohyo for the match. Also why there aren't supposed to be women on the dohyo.

Sumo was originally a Shinto religious ceremony. Yokozuna have such strict requirements because they're essentially living gods in the religious canon. Hence their inability to be demoted and forced retirement when they can't perform to the Yokozuna standard. They essentially want rikishi to be as austere as possible in their public facings, so the squeaky wheel often gets a fuckload of grease.

Hakuho is probably clearing 100k a month, but there's also sponsorships, their association pay, and their pension, so he's getting more than most being the GOAT.

On paper they get 25k a month at Yokozuna, but those are Dana White numbers. Their locker room pay is probably a whole lot more.

From a logistical stand point, these men have a lot of real estate. I say go old school and let them get some extra revenue. Call Gedo!
