RIP to HANDSOME Harley Race. He could command respect with just a stern look or turn of his head. A true American original, there will never ever be another like him.

I had the good fortune to be born early enough to see him compete live in the late 70s and early 80s in the Carolinas and Georgia (native Tennessean myself). No matter the mood of the crowd, when Harley by-God Race came to the ring, everyone immediately tensed up, because they knew the MAN had arrived.
