Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent comments via social media left many followers of the sport debating whether the two athletes had gone “too far.”

After McGregor posted a picture poking fun at Nurmagomedov’s wife, the Russian responded with an equally low blow in which he called “The Notorious” a “rapist.”



Following the incident, many media members called for a UFC intervention, in order to stop the trash talk from going any further.

On Wednesday afternoon, UFC President Dana White issued a statement to Yahoo Sports’s Kevin Iole regarding the back-and-forth.

White’s statement read as follows:

“I’m aware of the recent social mediaexchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is unacceptable. As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally.”
