Every successful wrestler and organization has engaged fans with promos and segments rather than the match itself. This is why wrestling companies today have lost the casual fans. Causals know the shit is fake, the sell of "amazing ring work" and nothing else is not appealing to them because they know it's not real competition which is something the hardcore have completely missed the point on. Ric Flair could tell a better story in 10-15 minutes than Okada/Omega could do in 70, that's why those guys are stars. It's something completely lost on the 'workrate' era of wrestling fans that Meltzer parrots.

Right, but all Dave said was that Omega and Okada were better in the ring, and he also said that the Rock and Austin had more charisma. So if he had just said that Omega and Okada had objectively better matches from a technical standpoint, instead of the pretty widely understood term that means the same thing of “better in the ring”. She went to her 20 year high school reunion and decided that she was always meant to be with this guy she was friends with in high school. They had never dated, and he was in her bullpen for 24 years before getting called up. That's pretty much it.

We both had good jobs, and owned a successful business together, but apparently we weren't "in love". It's your classic magical thinking.
