Pro wrestling isn't about technical masterpieces, never has been. This ain't MMA. This isn't a gymnastics competition.

All Dave is saying here is that Okada and Omega get the fans more engaged with the actual performance of the match itself rather than what led up to it. When WWE has tried to use that similar approach with AJ and Shinsuke it didn’t really work out to its full potential. Rock and Austin got the fans engaged in the match by what they did before it, the promos and segments, rather than in the ring and the match itself.

If a person had never ever seen Okada omega rock or Austin, and that person was alone in the arena watching in silence, the storytelling of the Omega and Okada matches would be better, in the ring. That is what Dave is saying and it’s not a hard concept to understand.
