No they just did poorly on a midterm. I was upset because they obviously didn’t put the time in. I give a similar test to my UC class and the average was a 83%. For my cal state class that I yelled At the average was 68%.

Told them I’m not gonna curve or give any extra credit they are just lazy and need to change.

Yeah I only had a handful of idiots over that four year period. Got 2500 teaching hours, bunch of certs, two associates degrees. All I gotta do is finish my higher education stuff and slide right into a lakers fan job when I retire in 9

i’ve heard that speech before only once and it came from my chemistry professor. Bio sciences you have to dedicate the time to the material. I bet most of those kids were cramming the night before.

What would you teach? If you have good connections getting a masters and a tenure track position is legit. There is a pay differential for PhD but masters is still decent. Problem is getting hired and competing with PhDs... that’s why i say connections.

I love teaching. If you enjoy it then it’s a nice life. Sometimes time consuming but enjoyable. I have students all the time tell me how much I helped them and how they appreciate me. And I can’t wait till I get my research going.

Absolutely this. They had a previous midterm that they scored low on. So this time I really laid into them. Several students came to my office after to tell me they were going to change and a few came up to me right after class to shake my hand and thank me. One kid was like that’s what I needed to hear.

This is a Lower
Div bio class so a lot of first and second year students. They are still learning about work ethic and what it takes. They are also shy about asking for help and study groups. I don’t have to baby as much when I teach upper division classes.

Got the urge to play Link's Awakening, so I got out my Game Boy case for the first time in many many years. Not only do I seem to have lost Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land 1&2 in my cross country move, but my case got mildewy and everything was covered in a green film. The Game Boy Color start button no longer works. The regular Game Boy has a weird outline around the screen so not everything is fitting properly. I have to see if I can get it for the fuckin' 3DS now.
