It wa such a special time. I was mystified by it. It felt like real life Mortal Kombat/Bloodsport, like seeing a whole other world. The pageantry, the presentation, the roided up charismatic fighters. Fucking soccer kicks and stomps!



Weird how, as I mentioned yesterday, I wasn't into Japanese wrestling at all but I was downloading every grainy 240p Pride FC event on Limewire that I could!

I found Sherdog cause of Pride and thats a shoot

I was home on a Saturday, coming down hard off a crystal meth run , and there was something on the PPV channels that looked interesting but I couldnt figure out if it was working or shooting so I googled it and found Sherdog talking about it

It was a dope ass show and had me All In by the end so I was like oh yeah, im finna start watching this everytime

It was Pride 33, the last one ever LoL

It really was. That's what got me into MMA. We had the black box Satellite version so I got to watch all the Pride stuff live growing up like I was Dave Meltzer and shit lol. It blew my young mind at the time. UFC was fake and gay compared to the jap shit, homie

For me, it was so much like discovering wrestling as a kid. I never watched Pride live but I was piecing the shows together through the archives like when you'd go to Blockbuster video and they'd have Wrestlemania 7 which you hadn't seen yet. That same magic.

So I'd download some event name I hadn't seen on a search yet and then 9 hours later be watching it and realize "oh shit, this is the one with Minotauro and Cro Cop!"

Simpler days, better days.

The satellite gimmick we had gave us like 1000 channels for free including about 5 porno channels with two of them being hardcore porn. Used to catch my grandpa's old ass watching hardcore porn then frantically try to change the channel. I know you werent watching the Giants game!
