Thats how I first discovered him, those pizza reviews randomly popped up on my algorithm so I watched a few and loved em, then I dug deeper and found out he was a Michigan Man so I watched some of his Barstool stuff

I had heard all the negativity around them but never paid attention to it til I became a fan of Dave and dug deeper, some of it is definitely legit, some of it appears to be the modern day hate media fake news, who knows how much of each


Just keep saving them dogs and funding our NIL program and ole Pete will luv ya forever

Can confirm, Nations is the business. Better burgers than In & Out, AND bomb-ass pies. I had a coworker introduce me to the place when I first moved to Cali, he still goes there at least twice a week 🤣

I had seen his name around before, including some of his big controversies, but ignored him, then those pizza reviews randomly hit my IG algorithm also, but I had a completely opposite experience. I watched like 4 of them during an IG scrolling session and in all 4 he was a massive douchebag towards the restaurants. One of the videos he threw a fit cause the place didn't roll out the red carpet for him while they were in a rush hour so he gave their pizza a shitty review even though he admitted it was good, but just wanted to give them a fuck you. Weeks later I found out the places he acts like a dickhead to in reviews get reviewed bombed hard by his followers as well. That's pretty fucked up.

After seeing those pizza reviews where he acted like a major dickhead I was like "I'm good" and hit the button to stop suggesting that content.

I might've just gotten a bad string of videos or something.
 
I haven't had In & Out in like 13 years. They always had the worst soggy fries in the business and the bottom bun on the burgers would always be soggy before I even made it home from the drive thru like all of their burgers came with extra grease or something.

They get better in recent years?
 
I only had it once on that San Diego bachelor trip many years ago. Seemed like a glorified Steak n Shake to me. I wasn't impressed.

Hit or miss depending on which one you go to, for me at least. I have two within 5 miles of my place, one is always great, the other always fucks up something. The fries were always kinda meh to me, better if you order them well done animal-style but pretty plain by themselves. The burger, I usually go for a double-double with no tomato, and onions both ways (raw and caramelized). Hit that with a root beer float, hard to beat when you're inebriated at 1AM.

Yea, I was gonna get a pie,because they are legit amazing, but they had a bunch of little tiny free samples setting put on the counter so I grabbed a pumpkin pie sample for Roxie who was waiting in the truck(which she spit out) and a pecan for me and that super sweet but delicious little sample was enough to help me resist temptation of grabbing a whole pie LoL

So instead I spent the 25 bucks that I woulda spent on the pie on fresh sweet juicy delicious strawberries and cherries from the Mexican lady selling them on the corner


Win win
 
I just watched a few more Dave Portnoy pizza reviews to give him a fair chance and they're definitely much more positive and fair then the ones that hit my algorithm before.

I would be curious to know which ones you watched because theres a couple really famous ones, Goodfellas Pizza and Dragon Pizza, but those dont sound like what you described

I agree the review bombing aint cool but I've never seen him purposely tell people to do that kind of stuff, I think they just do it on their own, which still frickin sucks

But theres also a whole lot of stories where he literally saves a shop from closing just by going there and giving it a good review and the next thing you know theres people lined up around the corner, the good stories like that far outweigh the bad imo


If youre interested, this is a great little review from last Christmas that literally changed this guys life(hopefully forever) and its these kind of stories that make me like Dave

Closest one to me is ~720 miles away, can't say I've tried it. I've heard good things about Shake Shack as well, we started getting them here a few years ago but I still haven't tried it.
