He has a very unique ability to say cheesy things and they sound genuine. The whole “they chose me and I represent them!” Thing is really hard to not sound awful and he makes it work
 
I was begging for Cody to turn heel in AEW when he was at peak heat and it blew my mind he was refusing to, the guy was a great unlikable heel in ROH and New Japan, so it really confused me why he didn't want to just roll with it since he was also good at it.

His WWE run really showed he knew what he was doing by sticking to what he wanted for himself. He's been excellent. He's been so good at being a babyface it's hard to even remember he spent so long as a dickhead heel an old granny in the front row would've loved to take a swing at.

AEW Cody definitely had some swing and miss promos but it really comes down to the nightmare family not being there. Babyfaces with mangers/valets/wives/families just look weak and stupid. He also screwed himself with that not able to challenge for the title stipulation right out of the gate. It was hard to get invested in his character cause we all knew there was a cap on it

Just watched the Cena/Cody segment. Thought it was a good piece of business. I'm not expecting a 5 star classic between them but I am excited to see what they do at Mania. They both are pretty weak as far as in ring skills.

TBF it takes a high intellect to truly understand the sacred art of professional wrestling. The casuals don't know what the hell they are looking at!
 
I still got that Cody LJN Superstars doll that arrived on the day he announced he left AEW setting right here on my computer desk in the exact spot its been in for years, still in the brown cardboard box it was delivered in, have still never opened it, set it there on the day it arrived and never touched it again

As much terrible shit the Nightmare Family produced, I'm glad we at least got Arn Anderson and his glock out of it.
