Greetings, wrestling friends.
I watched Elimination Chamber with LTR and my nephew (actually my cousin's son). He isn't a wrestling fan and he fucking loved it. My sister drove him home the next morning and said he talked about the show the whole way home. So we got a convert.
I thought the show was great. Becky has stayed with Seth too long and now I want to put 500,000 babies (I'm getting older) in Jade's belly. I was (and still am?) expecting it to turn out it was Bianca not Naomi that attacked her, but that beatdown was awesome.
TIffy is great and Trish is still a smokeshow and that match was what it needed to be. I will complain on the internet if Charlotte wins at Mania. She's gross.
KO and Sami was great. KO is just the best. Everything he does is great and has a level of believability to it. The way he wrestles and bumps, but also his promos and his reasoning. His reasons for this heel turn all make sense in universe. He's just the best and he should win MITB and be champion at the end of the year.
The Chamber match was really, really good. I thought Punk would win. I expected Cena to sell his soul to Rock, but I didn't expect it to happen yet. I thought he'd fail one more time at least and then in his desperation turn to Rocky. But this worked. I loved the subtle tease of him rushing over to grab Punk after Seth hit the Curb Stomp. Big change from the guy who intercepted Johnny Ace and Vince to stop them from screwing Punk at MITB 2011 because he didn't want to win like that. The way his face dropped during the hug and then he went back to smiling as he faced Cody again was perfect. Yeah, it would have been better if it happened 10 years ago, but it was still great and makes Mania and this farewell tour way more interesting. If Face Punk vs. Heel Cena for the title main events SummerFest, I'll be there for sure.
Travis Scott being there definitely detracted a bit, but it was more than big enough of a moment to override the randomness.
If they want to up the heat even more, I hope they do this: Cody starts taking over at Mania, so Rocky comes out to give Cena an edge. Punk or Roman come out to even the score. Hollywood Rock and Hollywood Cena are now on the ropes and desperately need ... a third man:
Heat level: nuclear.
I didn't watch Raw tonight but I did see Punk's promo on YT and fuck yeah, it was great. "You're gonna make a wish I never did!" -- Beautiful. I'm pumped for Mania.
