@Pliny Pete The sheets were saying when the original producers met with Amazon last year, that amazon kept referring to the franchise as "content". The daughter of the original producer, who owned the rights, spoke up and said James Bond is not content and walked out of the meeting.

Looks like Bezos cut the check to shut her up and go away so they could do what they want with the character. Gonna be a rough ride, I fear.

Same way I feel about people referring to rasslin as "the product", oh it chaps my ass good so I appreciate her emotional outburst

It'll be just like Star Wars. I'm sure they'll be some good stuff and the movies will probably be fine. There's gonna be a lotta crap spinoffs though. M's early missions as a spy in the Cold War, Q labs, Bond girls. They'll be cashing every check they can with a 007 brand on it.

It being like Star Wars is exactly what I'm afraid of. The vast majority of Disney era Star Wars has been awful, with only a couple of exceptions, and Amazon has already proven that they're no better with huge IP's like Lord of the Rings. For Bond, this is a worse fate than even Blofeld could have dreamt up.
 
MGM/United Artists have been involved in every Bond movie ever. Has their leadership changed since Amazon bought them or something for people to be worried? Hasn't the original producer's kids basically just been producers in name only since their dad died? Like I don't think Barbara Broccoli was the creative force behind Bond for the last 30 years and if she was, wouldn't people be happy by this news? Haven't a lot of the movies been super MID with Brosnan and Daniel Craig?

I don't really remember the Brosnan ones, all I remember is Goldeneye being cool and the one with Halle Berry sucking bad. The only Craig one I saw was the first one Casino Royale and that was pretty good. I remember seeing reviews of each one and it seemed like one would suck, next would be good, one would suck, next would be good so I haven't really bothered to catch up cause I don't want to sit through the suck to get to the good lol

Hope this Bond news doesn't destroy the franchise for the people who do like it though. Disney is really getting off the rails with Star Wars and I'm saying that as someone who liked all of the new movies. Like doubling down with a new Rey Skywalker movie instead of doing something else. Read the room man lol. Hope Bond doesn't have that same fate for Bond fans.

Our Lady Peace performed Chris Benoit's walkout song at their concert last night, supposedly the first time since the Benoit shit happened. They said the song has a troubled past, but they wanted to take their song back.

Benoit crap aside I liked this theme. There is no way OLP knew Benoit was going to be a killer so can't fault them for that.

Damn Pete you're cold (not as cold as Benoit) but I can at least watch a Benoit match back in the day. Not everyone can be as entertaining as Guerrero or run with a mop gimmick in WCW. Props to Kevin Sullivan though because he did wonders for Benoit's career.
