My thing is, sometimes it just takes one decent teacher to show they care to brighten up a kid's day. A lot of kids have shitty lives, then they go to school and have shitty burnt out teachers. Some people might get motivated to have even just one teacher that they know has their back and wants them to succeed. My life blew at a lot of points as a kid, but to this day I still remember my 7th grade math teacher and my 10th grade English teacher, because they were legitimately a bright spot in a place where most people were struggling, lots of crime and gangs, etc. but those teachers stood out and actually gave a shit among a bunch of teachers who were just clocking in and doing the bare minimum.

One of the things that got me interested in teaching is how many not for profit, open to the public, STEM charter schools that are opening, where the goal is to set kids up for a legitimate future in STEM fields. A lot of these schools are struggling to keep IT and Engineering teachers because IT and Engineers can make way more money elsewhere. I'd love to actually help mold a good future for youth in this community I live in that reminds me of the community I grew up in. It would be nice to help kids learn something useful as well and not the bullshit I grew up learning. I'll be applying to teach useful subjects and try and be someone they can actually count on to learn from and to get mentorship from.
My wife grew up very poor and in a very broken home. She still talks about the impact two specific teachers had on her 20 years ago. Said she would have wound up in the same broken loop as the rest of her family if those two didn't make her feel like she could be worth something. Unconventional job aside, she's a very loving and caring person and she's achieved way more of the "American dream" than she could have ever imagined (ie she isn't begging other family members for help or food until the next welfare cheque comes through). I'm very proud of her for escaping her shitty family, and it's all because of those good teachers who stepped up and showed what a role model should be.

Having said all that, I wanted to be a teacher back in the day and all the elder teachers I knew on a personal level said fuck that, it ain't worth it lol

Looking forward to tomorrow morning when @Batjester calls us a bunch of pussies

@Pliny Pete I was coming home after picking up my son from wrestling tonight. I was driving by my neighbors house right next to mine and I see a brown thang in the corner of my eye on his lawn. I look over and it's that BITCH Coconut! She escaped the backyard and was having a good ol time sniffing my neighbors lawn! Lawler would have never done that. He knows a good thing when he has it. Coconut is a damn hood rat!

My anti-virus is telling me that this site is malicious and i should avoid it.

Guess this is farewell.
My phone keeps getting redirected to a malware site pretending to be my phone provider. What are these upgrades even accomplishing?

PLOT TWIST!

I agree about one teacher making a difference. For me it was a high school teacher named Cliff. I went to an alternative high school for kids that were either on their last chance to get a diploma instead of a GED, or if they were trying to graduate early.

It was a great school because it taught us how to deal with real life situations instead of just your basic school bullshit that 99% of you would never end up using. No real walls dividing the classrooms, we called all the teachers except for one by their first name, and there was no separation between the different age groups. We also didn't have grades, it was a point system that you earned by showing up and actually doing something in the class.

Behind his ornery behavior and rough exterior my pal @Batjester is actually a good guy, Moom. He's just too damn old for the bullshit!
This is true.

I know,
we need to get him back to vegas, asap.
Vegas @Batjester could heal the world with all that positive energy!
Eying December again.

OH, and you're all still a bunch of pussies.
