I don't think I could be a teacher. Even my wife only wants to teach preschool. You really can't do much if they have shitty parents and upbringing. Thats really the most improtant thing. My sons do fine at public school, one has nearly an overall 3.96 GPA and the other gets As and Bs but if I could afford to I would have had them in private school the whole time. Public school is all indoctrination which is why there is so much BS and politics. It will never change.
Seems like it's only getting worse too. The amount of teachers I've known since the pandemic that quit and have moved on to other careers is staggering. There's gonna be none left before long.

People seem shittier now. Shitty parents = shitty kids = frustrated teachers. I'm glad my wife found her niche with pre school. I wasn't expecting her to make decent money either but she makes 65k a year which is pretty wild. She's great at it, though. The parents and kids love her. She got into it for the right reasons and knew what age group would be right for her.

@Stargazer Rex @moonwolf I tried this earlier this week. It looked good but it stunk! I don't like Crumbl trying to branch out into cakes.

Preschool teachers are magical. I still remember my preschool teacher. Mrs Orr. I remember I was having a really bad morning. My mom and her boyfriend were all fucked up on drugs and beating each other the night before. I wasn't doing too well and she was the first one to tell me I was a tiger lol. She was teaching us about Chinese New Year, it was year of the tiger. "Did you know you are a tiger, Young Rex?"

My thing is, sometimes it just takes one decent teacher to show they care to brighten up a kid's day. A lot of kids have shitty lives, then they go to school and have shitty burnt out teachers. Some people might get motivated to have even just one teacher that they know has their back and wants them to succeed. My life blew at a lot of points as a kid, but to this day I still remember my 7th grade math teacher and my 10th grade English teacher, because they were legitimately a bright spot in a place where most people were struggling, lots of crime and gangs, etc. but those teachers stood out and actually gave a shit among a bunch of teachers who were just clocking in and doing the bare minimum.

One of the things that got me interested in teaching is how many not for profit, open to the public, STEM charter schools that are opening, where the goal is to set kids up for a legitimate future in STEM fields. A lot of these schools are struggling to keep IT and Engineering teachers because IT and Engineers can make way more money elsewhere. I'd love to actually help mold a good future for youth in this community I live in that reminds me of the community I grew up in. It would be nice to help kids learn something useful as well and not the bullshit I grew up learning. I'll be applying to teach useful subjects and try and be someone they can actually count on to learn from and to get mentorship from.

What, no one appreciates my hilarious post about Roxie being a hoochie

I didn’t see it! Classic case of it being the last post of the page on mobile so I just rolled over to the next one

Tank is a tail scratcher too. You try to pet his head and he instantly turns around and backs that thing up on you

Thats dope. I loved teaching 3rd/4th grade.
The kids were so open to learning and generally just seemed excited to be there.
i think we talked about this before.

My happiest time working with youth in any sector was w/elementary school aged kids,
But i could tell that the most appreciated and meaningful time i spent was with middle school/high school youth, even if they didnt want to admit it.

Finally, FINALLY got a copy of Silent Hill purchased! I had about $325, a dollar or two a day, set aside for it by this point, so I only had to spend 27 cents. God damn it is good to have this monkey off my damn back!
