I've been listening to Cornette off and on over the past few years. He's insightful when it comes to the past, and his bread and butter is hearing the details from the 80s and 90s. But he is absolutely useless in adaptation/modern wrestling.

I think Jim hates The Elite (Kenny and the Bucks) not because they suck, but because he really wanted them at one point, and they turned him down.

This guy has held a near 20 year grudge while these guys started a 2nd rate pro wrestling organization that is the most profitable since WCW. Jim having Smokey Mount flashbacks.

I think Jim hates The Elite (Kenny and the Bucks) not because they suck, but because he really wanted them at one point, and they turned him down.

This is exactly why. Jim's beef with Kenny started while Jim was the booker of Ring of Honor and Kenny cancelled a Ring of Honor booking because he got injured. Kenny appeared in Japan for DDT around the same time so Jim got mad saying Kenny faked his injured, even though Kenny didn't even wrestle in DDT. Jim's 13 year obsession with Kenny Omega started over a missed ROH show.

Young Bucks were pretty similar. Jim didn't want to use ROH budget to fly the Young Bucks out from California anymore and basically told the Young Bucks if you want to get booked you have to get yourself out to shows, Young Buck said "ok, don't book us, we'll work elsewhere" and apparently Jim got mad that the Young Bucks didn't want to lose money to work for ROH and has held that grudge ever since.

He seemed to not mind their wrestling while he booked ROH, then magically when they didn't want to work in ROH while he was there he magically started to hate their wrestling.
