It's both.

CYN are a bunch of faux-edgy Fight Club cosplayers with their "Don't watch this if you're a soy boy pussy" disclaimers before their shows. The fans are Mean Girling for social media dopamine hits, and drawing more attention to a product they never had any intention of watching because they have ideological differences.

They could just as easily say "Not for me, I'm gonna ignore it, then it'll go away".

You just reminded me of a Jim Norton line, he was talking about a terrible radio show, and actually said "Why come up with content when you can just say words?!"

Then again, this is a company that hired a writer who had no compunction with going on a podcast, and saying "My friend asked me if there was any dignity in it, and I said no, but the money is so good!"

I don’t think it’s as much a question of effort, at least initially. It actually looked like a decent amount of effort went into the presentation and it got a lot of time on air it. It also got lashley over and was working to an extent. I think more importantly than effort it was questionable choices and there was an obvious conflict in terms of direction to take the show. Things like not committing to having hot girls dance or not. When someone has a their own passion project vince needs to be less involved (so in some warped way less effort from Vince himself might help lol). I do agree that once something like this happens and it’s clear there’s a lack of direction or conflict / competing interests the effort on all ends starts to decline.
