Good God!

Damn, apparently there's a shooting and hostage situation like one street over from my house. Ghetto bird has been flying in circles just above me for like 30 minutes.

Vince bought WCW for around $2.7m (nearly $4.3m when adjusted for inflation)
Tony bought ROH for around $40m

Tony got ripped.

Tony didnt buy shit
His farher did

Well, either way, someone's been ripped off. Sinclair must have howled with laughter when that deal was done. How the hell do you manage to be taken for $40m for Ring of Honor?!

Same reason why guys are out there buying nfts.

Hes a billionaire. 40 odd mill is a weekend bender right off

Plus there's the lingering rumours of a streaming service.

aew, roh and potentially PWG stuff = marks signing up

I mean me id sign up for that shit

The use for it is neither here not there, $40m is WAY overpriced, especially when you consider than Sinclair bought it for less than $`0m and since then, it's not like ROH has been setting the world in fire. If the WWE Network is anything to go by, the "classic" stuff isn't streamed anywhere near as much as you'd think it would be. They'd need to keep running ROH shows to get any return on investment, and even then, they don't really have a roster at this point, so would they sink even more money into running it?

In my opinion, Sinclair saw Tony coming, and rinsed him.

Apparently both AEW and WWE were making offers to buy. I guess he had to outbid them

Now, that does beg the question as to whether WWE did it to drive the price up, because I cannot see where a $40m valuation for a promotion that the parent company paid less than a quarter of that sum for, which had to go on hiatus because it wasn't financially viable, didn't have a roster because they were released and worked on a freelance basis, wouldn't have a TV deal, or any distribution.

It wouldn't surprise me if WWE heard that Tony Khan, (not AEW, it's fully owned by Tony) was looking to buy ROH, and they said "We'll give you this much for it" so Sinclair say "Well, WWE just gave us an offer..." and Tony dipped into his inheritence a little more.

As an entity, it's a smart purchase, but I can't see where a valuation of nearly 10 times that of WCW's (when adjusted for inflation) comes from. The only thing I can really think of is debt repayment, but I don't know how much ROH owed.
