The weight cuts and its health effects on fighters have been well documented and debated on here, some suggesting drastic measures to prevent a large weight cuts. Personally, it's been such a close part of what wrestling is for me, and I don't really have a big issue with weight cutting itself.

One wonders however, if it gives more benefits than losses, due to its draining effect on its fighters. However, until proven otherwise, I see it two possible scenarios looking in. One is fighters or wrestlers enjoy the suffering it causes on their body and the pain and possible health consequences like kidney damage, even if it might lessen their performance.

Or, the other is that fighters and wrestlers believe from first hand experience the advantage that they could gain from having that a few extra weight advantages, since everyone cuts weights and possible weight advantage from it isn't likely drastic

I don't really think some people on here understand how much of an advantage Mckenzie Dern would have going into her fight. She competes in 115 pounds weight class with 1 pound extra allowance. She weighed in at 123 pounds, so she actually weighed in with 8 pounds extra than her scheduled weight, with one extra pounds in there.

To put this into perspective, Yair recently reported got caught caught refusing to fight Lamas and Zabit, who competes in 145 pounds weight classes. If UFC allowed Yair to weigh in at 155 pounds at the weigh in, while Zabit and Lamas had to cut 145 pounds, then it would have been whole different story, because that's the same weight percentage advantage that Dern would have going into this fight.

On top of it, it doesn't look like Dern actually gave a fuck about making a weight, because if you did, you can't possibly come so much higher than the scheduled weight limit, so she isn't going to be drained either.

If you care about WMMA, I don't, but from the glimpse I had, there's not a whole lot of finishes, especially standing up, because they don't really have a whole lot of power, let alone at a weight class of 115 pounds.

So, on one hand, we have a fighter with a HUGE weight advantage, with no cardio effect from a weight cut, which cannot be said for the other fighter, with HUGH BJJ advantage, in a weight class where even for men there wouldn't be a high likelihood of knock outs, let alone for WMMA, fighting in her 'home' country..

Give Yair a call right now Dana, and let him know you are fine with him weighing at fucking 155 pounds for featherweights too. I doubt Yair would have two second thoughts about coming back to sign the dots.

i assume WMMA take hormones to get the menstruation blood out of their body just before weigh in/?

My perspective is that she’s in the ufc just to make some $$$$$ and to take pics on the beach for Instagram - no interest in really being the best in her division

Dang that's in Anthony Johnson territory for worst misses ever! I think he weighed in at 194 for a middle weight bout once.

She's a fat slob and shouldn't miss weight.

Thread over.

TS cares an awful lot for a cat who doesn't care.

Here's how you don't care

It's equivalent of coming in at 198 pounds if it was a middleweight.

Cutting weight is part of the sport for me and always will be. I hate people conplaining about how much someone cuts if they haven’t missed weight. I also understand that sometimes had cuts happen and you don’t calculate something right and miss by a pound or two.

Having said all of that, this cut by Dern was complete garbage. She didn’t even look dehydrated. To miss by that much and look like you didn’t even try is number one bullshit. I hope ABC wrecks her ass.

Soon, Derns will be as wide as her height.

I wonder what you fools will think of her then. Hahaha

Im struggling to understand ur point T.S is it about dern or yair..i think if you relying on your weight cut only to be successfully your a pretty shitty fighter to begin with ..it should work like this..

Level 1
You miss weight once without short notice- get fined 40% of your purse 20% to the comission 20% to the opponent - fight still happens

Level 2
Miss weight another fight, within 1 calendar year of your last miss or contract length , the fights gets scrapped your show money is split between the comission and your opponent

Level 3
Miss a third time fight is scrapped and the fighter is permanently bumped to the next available weight class fines are same as the level 2 infraction

Level 4

Miss agian Cut from the UFC , penalties the same as level 2 and 3

Thatll stop people from fucking around weight wise

Give her a break, the instructions for weigh-ins probably weren’t in her native language of English. The event is in Brazil.

She is better than you at MMA.

She's just for the exposure and quick cash. we must remember she has experience with weight cut thanks to years of bjj and ADCC competition so she's not a noob on this kind of stuff. but lately she is getting more and more unprofessional with the cuts and weight that i think she just wants to be famous.

At this point i don't if she'll get cut if she loses; WME likes good looking girls to hype for drawing casuals and she has the skills but with her being more interested on posting bikini pics on Instagram i don't believe she will go far in the UFC, whether 115 or 125.

TS provided no perspective, also, did not read.
