"City in the Sea" by post-hardcore band Scatter the Ashes. They only had like one or two albums before calling it quits.

First heard this song/saw this video on an Asian Man Records VHS sampler lol

"I heard Toronto's a hard city. Anybody got a knife? Stab."

I may have started a post hardcore thread but I haven't forgot about this one

My old band kind of modelled ourselves after these three bands

We weren't that popular, lol. :D

Forgot about that one, it's probably been 10 years since Iast heard it.

Good choice.

Toronto has some bad areas, that have mostly been "cleaned up" now.

Toronto HC shows are usually pretty violent though.

I know lot of dudes really into cold as life good to see them posted. I think they just played here but they arent my style so I didnt stay to see them

They're a scab version now, I believe the drummer is the only original member.

They honestly have one of the most insane stories of any punk or hardcore band. In fact, I'd put them right at the top. Off the top of my head, only Reagan Youth would rival it.

To summarize though, they come from a shitty part of Detroit. The original CAL vocalist was murdered by a friend of the band. The guitarist then stepped up on vocals for the majority of their career. At some point, substance abuse and disputes between members got the better of them and they broke up. One guitarist then died because of drug abuse. Another ODd on heroin. Then just a few years ago, the second vocalist went to prison for armed robbery. Just insane shit. There are stories of members shooting up crack houses, getting in fist fights on stage and pretty much just being violent wherever they went.

This is a good read and was what prompted my posting that video yesterday. I still have them as one of the most underrated bands ever. They started out as really good street punk and then just turned into one of the darkest hardcore bands of all time.

Yea I know that tale and I cant think of a band that has a harder one either Ill let that one soak for a while and see if any others come to mind.

My buddies in the ghouls have opened for cold as life and theres always super hard core dudes milling about that you know you dont want to mess with.

Theres no place like Detroit man and I really cant see myself ever leaving Michigan, just the bands alone are enough of a reason to stay.

Cant wait to see these dudes again in like 2 weeks.

Rancid being one of my top 5 bands of all time, I dont think any of those Rancid covers did them justice.

Wasn't expecting that from the picture, rad!
