Punching with the first two knuckles?

I'm not a boxing expert but have seen in older traditional text book illustrations of bone alignment, of the middle knuckle being recommended to land first. As it's apparently in alignment with the wrist, then forearm bones.

These illustrations were in traditional martial arts I should mention.

But in my boxing training I have also heard to land first two knuckles first. Other gyms the middle to first two. With the emphasis being on not to land with your two smaller knuckles.

No, you cant you hand for the purpose of alignment, you can tilt your wrist slightly without messing up your alignment, though as mentioned by someone else said every body’s body is a bit different.
Yes, I have been taught to punch like this (with slight tilting) and I have never considered the chances of wrist damage. Now I know that this is not completely safe, but is there such a method at all?

you mean with a slight downward angle to the wrist? Yes and it’s the only way I’ve been taught, and I’ve never had any issues with injury for myself my peers or my students nor have I ever heard of the method resulting in injury

It depends on the style of fighting you're practicing some vain said to barter one way in the other style vain told to hit another.
For me what is worth and efficiency.

Yes, exactly- I also have never had a problem with this kind of punches, but... I have seen so many specialists (real or fake, I can't say) who say exactly the opposite of this. According to many guys the bent wrist is wrist "ready"for injury.

probably fake experts if they’re saying that.

How bent are you talking about? Because it's only enough to ensure that there's a straight line from the elbow through the knuckle which requires actively engaging the forearm muscles, that's fine. If we're talking about something else - then maybe.

Exactly as you say it, man. It is a slight bending. I have tried few times to go full force on a heavy bag with boxing gloves, without wraps to check what is going to happen. I liked the result- the only time there was a chance for injury in my opinion was when throwing horizontal hooks. I think that this way of punching might be not so dangerous as many people say on internet.

the angle the hook comes at, an extra tweak if the wrist may not be necessary, but goju doesn’t really do hooks so i’ll defer to one of the boxers if what I said is incorrect

If I go with the vertical hook it is not like this, but I like more the horizontal punches, because of the twisting. I feel more power like this and also the chance of hitting with the smaller knuckles with horizontal hooks is smaller.

Landing with the first two knuckles is how it is done in bareknuckle styles.
The basic idea is
1. Hit with the two largest&strongest knuckles to minimize chances of breakage.
2. the two first knuckles also lines up naturally with the arm for a straight transfer of power.

In boxing, where you use wraps and thick gloves, it does not really matter that much.
Still, the definition of "boxers break/fracture" typically involves breaking the little or ring fingers. Sometimes more fingers are included in the symptom, but the original definition only included the last two fingers.

The index finger knuckle does NOT line up naturally with the arm, it's the only knuckle that doesn't line up with your arm at all. Look at your fucking hands. It's common sense.
