Tony used steel pipe leg kicks exercise to prepare his leg kicks for Khabib

,do you think he is doing something like this to increase his punching power too ?

I think fighters should punch themselves in the head for training, that way they can toughen up their fists and their chin at the same time. Good, thought provoking post OP.

Tony should hook up with Luke Cummo...since he was punching stones on TUF2

Everyone hatin on Tony but Brazilian fighters would kick trees back in the day

Machida used to punch a wooden board to make his knuckles more dense, I think. Maybe it wasn't wood because that just sounds you'd get tons of splinters.

bj penn used to wrestle boulders and hold them underwater until they dieded

Kicking steel pipes does not strengthen your shin bone, it just nums down the nerves. It’s the same as taking the batteries out of a fire alarm. If you’re sleeping and your house is on fire you won’t know it till you burn. If you kick a knee and crack your shin bone, you won’t feel it till you throw another one and snap it clean in half. The proven way to strengthen your shins is years and years of jogging and kicking heavy bags, just like the Thai’s do it. Also, technique is an important part. If you set up your kicks and place them where they should be, you are reducing the chance to get them checked.

Reported for dropping too much knowledge in the heavies.

MT fighters would chop down trees with their kicks but those trees aren't as hard as the normal trees we think of.

Bamboo, still do. You start with hitting your shins with smaller bamboo sticks and work up to kicking trees.
