Mel is maybe the greatest film director since Kubrick. Say what you want about his rants, but Braveheart, Apocalypto, Passions of the Christ and Hacksaw Ridge are A++ films.

Agreed. Mel Gibson is the best “epic film” director right now. Better than James Cameron and modern Spielberg. Too talented and independently loaded to be blackballed as intended.

Yeah, Apocalypto is one of the most under rated films of all time. It's not very often that you can watch a film with no English, very little dialogue and understand so well what is going on and be so captivated. Even South Park jokes about how Mel may be crazy but he understands structure and how to make a great movie.
