Video game hardware is not an essential good. We don't need it to survive. So I believe the free market should be allowed to dictate price. The problem is the wrong people are profiting. NVIDIA, AMD, and the rest should be charging these prices. I see no reason why they should be beholden to MSRP they set. Imagine the tremendous amount of money that they would gain to devote to more R&D or development of other infrastructure.

Otherwise, in California, we have a reasonable law during emergencies (like wildfires). Stores aren't allowed to raise the price of goods by 10% relative to what they were charging on average in the 30 days prior to a State of Emergency being declared. The spirit of this is aimed at food, water, blankets, fuel, batteries, lighting, and other emergency supplies, but it covers all goods.

Since COVID has driven so many indoors to be reliant on entertainment I could see a case for setting a temporary ban of scalpers to where anyone charging x% above MSRP should be banned from merchant platforms, and liable to be charged with a crime (carrying a heavy fine) just as we charge gougers here in California. COVID is irrefutably a (semi-)natural disaster.
 


Not sure how many people are aware but the Dual Sense has 40k PlayStation symbols that comprise the textured grips. I legitimately can’t see them they’re so small.

When I went to see Arctic Monkeys a couple years back they sold the tickets through a system where you were only allowed in if your last name was on the tickets. if you wanted to resell the tickets for any reason you had to resell them on their website for the exact same price that you bought them.

I dunno if there's anything they could do like that but that was one way around it.

There were two last time on the same day if I remember rightly. Think it was between 2 and 3.

Edit: actually I just checked the time before the first drop went live at 10am and the 2nd drop was 15:50pm
 
One of the perks of living in a small place with low population and no money is I've actually been able to buy a couple ps5s locally just being on waiting lists.

If your stores have them it may be better to throw your name in one of those. Our EBs have been doing it and me and my buddy have both had luck... this is Nova Scotia though, may not apply to anybody else but I figured I'd mention it.

It's fucking insane It's February and there's still a drought.

I don't think any place here has a waiting list to buy it locally. Never heard of anything like that.
